Have you been thinking about what you can do to help our environment to be much cleaner?

This Week we will talk about what kind of contribution we can make for the earth we lived in.

How could we talk?

Just leave what is in your mind in your reply below.

I'm now in Yi Yang city Hunan Province. Our city is small and not as clean as the big city.
Some people lacks environment mind. They casually throw garbage down the street, even include gum.
I really hate this behavior. I think it is good to put the environment idea to the school students. And we'll do the thing we can do to protect our environment.

@fluteou,

Nice to hear from you:)
The sense of environment protection might have some connection with people's education level.
In this sense, our educational institutes should take the responsibility to preach the importance of environment and the way to protect it.
It's really vital to wake as much people as possible.

Hi the 1st floor~~
I come from Hunan province, perhaps Changsha is not very clean too and some citizens lack the awareness but I think students do better than them.
And now, I am at Beijing, though there is fewer garbage at these city's street, but the air is not as clean as Changsha, a lot of dust floatting in the air, and the trees are fewer than Changsha too.
At Beijing's suburb, there is no garbage bin and garbage fly in the air at windy day. I think some infrastructures are not enough.
What I can do for the environment?
just don't waste natural resources and reduce the use of plastic bags

@hhfish: "At Beijing's suburb, there is no garbage bin and garbage fly in the air at windy day?"
Is that true, how come the situation is so disappointing?
I can't imagine what it look like if trash are disposed at random.

Hi, fish,

As you said, big city's envionment is not so good as small cities. The seasons are: bigger the city is, more cars there are, and more polluting offgas exhausted into the air, more dusty smokes we can see and feel.
To be aware of environmental protection and the aggravating circumstances is the least thing we can do. And try to pass this awareness down to others.

BTW, the code includes some javascripts. If you want, I can share. Talk to me via OICQ.

Thank you for inviting me to join in the discussion~~
I am now studying in Shanghai, personally,I think Shanghai's environment situation is far from satisfactory.Especially in the downtown area, there are so many people that it is impossilble to reach the environmental standard like other foreign countries.Trashes are often seen on the street, smokey offgas exhausted by cars and trucks are so common that people are too lazy to hide from it.
I think there is a long long way to go to improve the current situation, the only thing we can do is to do our best not to pollute the environment ourselves and then take any possible chances to publicize the importance of environment protection~~

I can still see a lot of garbge on the street. This phenomenon is more serious in small cities than in big ones.
Personally, this is partly because of people's lacking of environmental protection sense.
AS for government, they should advocate people to protect our nearly damadged plannet, as well as carrying out some timely solution to purify the environment.
As for us ,individuals in this environment,we should mind our manners both in and off home.

yeah,it's time to protect our earth .I think just do it from ourselves.there are many things we can do,for example,we don't throw the garbage any where, and if we see the garbage,we can pick it up.what's more, more and more people have cars,it creats two serious problem. one is air pollution, another is traffic jam.To solve them,we should commute to work, such as subway, bus and so on.Today,I heard a news that the gas price are incresed. so if we reduce the times of driving cars,e can save our money and fuel. You can kill two birds with one stone.I belive if we try our best, the world is becoming much beautiful.

Well, sometimes I just wonder why many of our young people just ascribe the responsiblity to the gov't, the media or the public instead of themselves. Most students ignore presenting their own efforts in their writing exams, and that's part of the reasons why they got lower scores than those who express constructively.
Say, What can we do to develop ecotourism? Can we do sth from ourselves? Sure,we'd better not spit everywhere, not throw plastic bags and other wastes casually, nor spoil the local plants.
Writing is an essential and helpful way to improve language competence, but bear in mind that everything is better to be expressed in a realistic mood.

I know, there will be a forbiddance about plastic bags in supermarket since 2008.6.1, we must use recycle bags or we should pay for the plastic bags.

the other thing is using disposable chopsticks, in fact, they are not clean, they just convenient. we'd better use our chopsticks when we take fast food in the office or in the home, it's not too inconvenient.o(∩_∩)o...

Well, this is a really good topic. I’m living in Beijing now, traffic and pollution is a big problem, sand storm visit Beijing almost every year and increased the cars made the street become more and more narrow, but we happy to see the environment and traffic have improved a lot in these years, government plant trees and grass in naked earth and the citizens have more and more awareness to protect the environment, even have less people leave around everywhere. Traffic also improved a lot, the new subway line five improved the traffic from TTY area to south city, and even the passengers in the box jammed like sardine can. But finally we have it!

OK, I saw almost people was talking about their City, then I expect to talk a little about our gov.
"Stop Pollution" & "Safe earth" & "Global Warming" many many words like that show up in our life. Then gov preach us to start action from little things. And we follow up.

But... you could always hear the gov destroy any illegal production by burning. Such as fireworks, CD, smokable etc. I do understand it the easiest method to destroy something. However, burning goods releases more and more pollution into our earth... This method makes our effort gone.

Yeah. I have seen what you listed above.
Shanghai is a big city and you will be suprised how beautiful the streets are. But you have to remember that this is a city that so many people live in, which means there is always something dark you neglect unconsciously but do exist, such as trashes and exhausted offgas of the cars. What can we do with them? Give up the car and take bus from now on? It is not the way to solve the problem.

I know exactly that there're always some environmental problems around me, here and there. But I never take any attention to it.
However, it doesn't mean I have no sense of protecting the environment. I think if you really care the surroundings you live in, you should firstly pay attention to your own behavior, which I think is the prerequisite of helping the environment. Then, if you have a strong sense of responsibility as a citizen, you could do whatever you think is helpful to the city.
I hate being in a dusty place, so I hate Nanjing...

I must say although environment nowadays has been a hot issue in China and some actions are already being taken, but still there is no much significant changes to meet the expectation for a better envrionment. In my opinion, in order to have some tangible achievement, regulators need to exert more stringent laws to protect enviornment from being polluted by industrial activities, which is the major source of various pollutants. To do this , government also ought to resolve not to sacrifice environment for economic's sake, which is the main barrier in the way of enforce the environmental regulations. It must be made clear that there is no justification for any activity that could possibly do harm to the envrionment.Another urgent need is to propagate the notion of how important and necessary for the public to do their share to save the envrionment. Trivial it may be , such as recycle battery, less driving , but it is worth of doing, for everyone's effort will eventually add to the purpose of alleviate the level of pollution. The media should take their turn to make the idea embed in everyone's mined that it is everyone's responsibilty of do that, and they do can make significant change for the good of envrionment, finally, by stick to it in everyday's life.

Most people in China tend to follow others, especially in some bad actions.Because following others' bad habit, they won't feel shame and they needn't to bear any responsibility. And someone maybe have the consciousness
of protect environment, but people around may effect him.So the essential way is to change people's mind and habit.

Streets in Shanghai are not so clean in my eyes. My hometown is Ningbo, a medium-sized coastal city. And it is much cleaner than Shanghai.
When I came to Shanghai, one thing really give me an alarm is that I saw a motorcycle driving in the street.
You know, motorcycle is banned in Ningbo for almost 3 years. The reason is simply: fast driven motorcycle can be dangerous as to traffic and the severe offgas pollution.

Given the same wish of improving our environment, our government and every single person should take the responsibility and do the job required to be done.

Environmental protection is the duty of everyone.
However when we walk on the road and see some trash, we are not willing to pick it up. I think there are several reasons. We are used to consider it the cleaners' work. On the other hand, we feel shy to do so, especially when there is some person beside. So maybe we should change our mind and strengthen our sense of environmenal protection. The most important thing is that we should take measures to forbid people to litter or make more pollution.

thanks for inviting me here !
in my opinion, i think environment protection is really a serious and pressing problem today. we have suffered from the damage we did before to environment: more and more people get cancer; animals get diminished. water we drink daily is not as clean as before; air we take in is being polluted day by day;food we live on is getting unhealthier. all of these have made us afraid of the world we live in! we must to do something about it!
what's more, in my city, the air in and out of my school are different that i can obviously feel that. and if u go to the center of the city and after u come back u will feel that yourself is so dirty all around. so unless we have to or we just stay at school.
to protect the environment, i think first we must behave well and at the same time influence others to do so as well!

I feel lucky that I'm in Guizhou University.Though the awareness of environment protection here is not very high, the environment in Guiyang is perfect, especially the Huaxi District where we live. There are amouts of trees here.
As to what we can do,I think that we should start from ourself, bit by bit from the start. We can't let someone not litter things ,but we can control ourself not to throw rubbish about. It will help, and it will.

It's the first time I take part in the program.I'm so thankful If anyone may figure the mistakes out.
