There are 14 schools at Harvard.

哈佛有 14 所学院。

They include HarvardCollege and the Redcliff (Radcliffe) Institute for Advanced Study.

包括哈佛学院和 Radcliffe 高等研究机构。

Harvard College is the undergraduate division of the university and Radcliffe is a former college for women.

哈佛学院是本科院校， Radcliffe 先前是女子学院。

So Harvard came first.

Later, in 1780, the Massachusetts Constitution went into event and fficially (officially) recognized Harvard as a university.

Some Harvard matiarials (materials) call it America's oldest university.

But the University of Pensolvienia (Pennsylvania) calls itself America's oldest university.

Penyfficials (Penn officials) note that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognized their school as a university in 1779.

That was one year before Harvard.

Yet the history gets a little complex.

Pen (Penn) considers its anniversary date to be 1740.

That was when the Charity School of Philidalphia (Philadelphia) was established, no it never opened.

Benjermin (Benjamin) Franklin later presented his ideas for a learning institution that included the Charity School.
