A group of left wing in Communist Parties in Indian said that they are withdrawing support for the government, in protest to the Civilian Nuclear Energy Deal with United States. The announcement is expected to lead to a parliamentary vote of confidence in the government. Alan Johnston of our south Asia desk reports.

The government argues that the nuclear deal is vitally important to India. His seize the agreement to the means of securing the energy that the country needs to fuel its rapid economic development. The Communist Parties, on the other hand, bitterly opposed a forging of such a major partnership with America, they’ve now withdrawn their backing from the government, but it will hope to survive, thanks to a new alliance that is struck with one of the country’s regional parties.

The European Commission is setting out proposals to overhaul the common agricultural policy, the vast system of rural subsidies that takes up about 40 percent of the European Union’s budget. Many of Europe’s farmers collect large sums of money from their governments and the EU. The payment is designed to keep the main business, and to protect the rural way of life. But developing countries complained that the system contributes to poverty elsewhere in the world. They said those subsidies keep prices of European food artificially low, making it hard for outsiders to compete. European countries often export their cheap food to Africa and elsewhere, again making it difficult for local farmers to match the prices.

Brazil’s Environment MinisterMarina Silva, a staunch defender of the Amazon rainforest, has resigned from the government. The expected environmental campaigner was known to have been that odds with some of the government’s own infrastructure projects for the Amazon. Marina Silva is a highly regarded figure among environmental campaigners across the world, and her resignation is undoubtedly a significant blow to the governmental president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The former rubber-tapper and activist, had often seen deceits uncomfortably within the tightly control the world of government ministry. But the reasons for her resignation were not immediately clear. In recent months she had appear to defer with others who’s in the government, including the president, over what lay behind the problems of the Amazon region.
