New efforts by Pope Benedict to reach out to Muslims. During a meeting at the Pope’s Summer home in Italy, Benedict tells Muslim diplomats, "our future depends on the dialogue between Christians and Muslims.” The meeting comes after the Pope’s recent remarks that sparked outrage and violence in Islamic nations.

Authority says an east St. Louis Illinois woman accused of killing a pregnant woman and cutting an unborn fetus from the body has now confessed to drowning the woman’s three other children. Tiffany Hall has not got in the charge with those deaths or has been charged with killing Jimella Tunstall and her unborn baby girl.

President Bush' campaign trail today here stopped for republican candidates in Connecticut and Ohio. He also talked about the economy in Cincinnati.

The things go marching into the Superdome once more tonight. In what’s expected to be a very motional addition of Monday night's football. New Orleans takes on the Atlanta Falcons in the first event of the Superdome since hurricane katrina evacuees sought shelter there more than a year ago.

Starting today, US travellers will be allowed to carry on once banned items like lip gloss, toothpaste and shampoo but with certain restrictions. The jelly-look would be products will be limited to three ounces containers which almost fit inside one clear one-quart size zip-lock plastic bag.

Authorities in southern California have issued a voluntary evacuation order for about 500 residents in Ventura County after the massive day fire crippled more than a half the lock with that area. Fire crews say coma winds are helping them make progress on the 140,000 acre place.

Fresh violence in Afghanistan has left at least 20 people dedd. The attacks including a suicide bombing outside a governor’s compound and a roadside bomb that targeted a NATO convoy. The violence comes as Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai meets with President Bush at the White House today.

A changing with a guard in Tokyo today as Japan’s parliament has elected Shinzo Abe to replace outgoing Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. Abe is expected to push forth close relations with the U.S. and a more assertive Japanese military.
