Food can be produced much more cheaply today because of improved fertilizers and better machinery. However, some of the methods used to do this may be dangerous to human health and may have negative effects on local communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

In the year 2008, people all over the world have been confronted with a unprecedented problem-the food crisis. One can just look at the increasing price in rice, the boycott of beef in South Korea and continuous riots in developing areas, he will realize how important it is to produce enough cheap food to feed the hungry people. Meanwhile, some scientists argue that modern agricultural technology may exert detrimental impact on human health and even damage the environment. Speaking for myself, I think this point of view is basically reasonable.

It is manifest that food science and safety has already become a hot issue in these days, and human beings begin to pay back what they have done. In the first place, the wide spread use of fertilizers and pesticide is likely to left remains in the ripe fruits or even subside in the river; as a consequence, consumers will unconsciously absorb those chemical material and suffer from environmental ailments. Furthermore, the transformed attitude towards genetically modified food has revealed the mainstream option about this kind of food. Specifically, from the fetishism in the very beginning to the reluctant accept nowadays, mankind gradually worries about the potential damage to their body since nobody knows what will happen if they enjoy too much abnormal food. Above all, some modern technologies even totally violate the nature, giving rise to series disasters. To illustrate, the world-known BSE or so-called mad cow disease is said to be aroused with too much use of meat bone meal. It is hard to impress that who invents such a crazy idea to feed vegetarians with meat, and they will deserve the results.

On the other hand, considerable people need massive cheap food. For those in famine countries, they may not care about the profound impact of dangerous food, as what they need is something eatable to scratch along, and cheap food is their priority. Nevertheless, we have other alternatives to help them, such as international aid and seeds of high yield cross-bred rice. For a long run, modern cheap food just seeks temporary relief regardless of the consequences

All in all, we cannot deny that ecbolic food can help people ease famine and reduce food crisis. Despite of these, if we want a bright future and health body, we cannot ignore the proliferation of modern chemicals and discretionary invention against the nature.

salyer的文章:
In this competitive and capricious world, the agricultural technical developments bring about not only the soaring increase of the yield but also some deleterious results.
Considering this problem, we should penetrate the superficial with ration and objectivity . From my perspective, on this issue we can't simply say whether the improvements in agriculture technique are good or not.

On the one hand,we can't deny the instant benefits that the agricultural technical developments give rise to, including the conspicuous replenishment for the inadequacy of the world food stock which brings inestimable people back to life from famine, the drops in food prices and some extend of the quality improvements.

On the other hand, when shopping in the supermarket, we can always see the stupendous florid tomatoes, each one more perfectly round than the last, and basically of plain taste . And in our daily life, most of the sellers trumpet their product has a "lovely appearance!" and an "excellent self life!". But behind the "perfect appearance" is always the distortion of the original great flavor and many long-term potential hazards such as the accumulation effects of pernicious ingredients because of the use of some fertilizers, hormones, fungicides, or insecticides which is drived by the industrial farmers' pursuing the maximum profits. At the same time nearly all the insecticides have the potential to significantly alter ecosystems: many are toxic to the environment; and others are concentrated in the food chain. Moreover, most of the food we get are not locally produced and they are delivered form[from] all over the country, even the world. So it is obvious that the industrial farmers are inclined to cultivate some special genetically modified plants that can be hauled long distances and still look good.Nevertheless, the technique of genetically modification is not that comprehensive and mature. Actually voices from many scientists insisted that many side effects and influences of this technique are still blurred in the mist.

From what I have elucidated above, we can draw the conclusion that it is necessary to balance agricultural needs with environment and health issues when using fertilizers, insecticides and some advanced techniques. Only in that way can we create a environmentally win-win situation.

In this day and age, considerable amazing and dissociable media coverage have drawn universal appeals from the public- from Tibet riots to cyclone aid, from tiger scandal to Weng’an mass incident, when confronted with so much conflicted information, we step into a dilemma that which reports are true and should we believe all the information from journalists. Speaking for myself, provided that we carefully distinguish this news, most of them are still dependable.

It is manifest that trustworthy journalists and objective reports are necessary and inevitable. To begin with, “Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility” (Society of Professional Journalists, 2007) is not only the motto of journalists but also the guidance for them. Only real professionals with high moral values and principles can adhere to their code of ethics. Furthermore, modern technology and the proliferation of the Internet enable human beings to monitor the media and gain information from different sources. To illustrate, well-known websites, forums and Internet proxy help with collecting latest reports from all over the world and any attempts to cover up the fact is totally fruitless. Finally, the nature of business- the constant pursuit of maximum profits with lowest costs forces those media companies to meet the needs of customers, which is the human desire for variety and facts.

Admittedly, there are numerous temptations that lure journalists into fabricating stories. A typical example is those endless gossip news from paparazzi. In addition, some of the journalists are even receiving threats from tycoons and gangster members when they set out to trace business scandals and crimes, not to mention unbeatable political pressures from the government. Despite of these, time is objective and unbiased, and secrets will be exposed sooner or later. Indeed, many historical secrets have been and will be revealed in these days.

To sum up, we cannot deny there are negative phenomenon existing in media industry, but with critically and independently comparing and analyzing, it will not be hard to find out the factual events.

slayer的:
We are living in a rapidly changing world which is flooded with numerous information. Most of the time we obtain the information though the media ,such as newspaper,TV,and Internet[the Internet, 当你说互联网的时候,专有名词记住加 the, 另外互联网上使用on the Internet].And in all the ripe information producing process, the journalists plays an[a] crucial role ,because not only they are[are they] the most expeditious ones to get the primary sources but also they are the direct ones to make all the data into some kind[kinds] of news.

some[Some] people hold the point of view that we should not trust what the journalists tell us. This kind of view is excessively exaggerated which just [not, not see the wood/forests for the trees是一个词组] see the wood for the trees.

However, from my perspective ,we shouldn't[学术文章不要缩写] think over this issue with dichotomy and pessimism which will make us go to extremes.we can't deny the fact that sometimes the journalists indeed make some spurious reports or advertisements to attract our attention or to just achieve some certain purposes. But it's only the rare cases and we should not judge the whole journalism by it. At the same time I believe that the majority of the journalists regulate themselves with their own professional criterion and ethic and they can guarantee some extent of the authenticity under the condition that they are well trained. Also sometimes the life of a journalist is really tough:they need to go deep into the danger to uncover the hidden dark facts and they need to bear the pressure form the public. So we should show more allowance for them and not assail them too much for their unintended mistakes.we should trust them, the real journalists not the so-called ones, to a great degree. Because trust is the crucial element of a healthy society. And simultaneously we should use our mature thinking[一般常见的说法是mature mind] to identify the fake and winnow the right information we need。

From what I have elaborated above, we can draw the conclusion that when facing the overloaded information of this capricious world, we should not only largely trust what the journalists tell us, but also rationally process those data we get.

Coincident with the advancement of science and technology,[这句话是熊猫的杀手锏哈] we can obtain news through many channels, such as newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, websites and so on.[好神奇,3个以上童鞋都是这样开头的,开玩笑拉] The vital role of news is beyond the shadow of a doubt. Nevertheless, many individuals, if not most, harbor the idea that we should not trust what the journalists tell us. From my perspective, I think those persons are taking a part for the whole. It is ridiculous. We should trust the journalists as most of the information is dependable.

Each journalist lives by the motto: "Tell the truth." A journalist cannot be a real professional as long as he betrayed the principle. Journalists are the eyes of the public, and they are also citizens’ pathfinders. If we cannot trust what they tell, what can we believe? Frankly speaking, thanks to the journalists, we can gaze the latest information about the world. It was inconceivable that one world has no journalist reporting for us.

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that a slice of news is unauthentic which give rise to the suspicion of the people. There are several reasons for this suspicion, but the following are the most critical ones. First and foremost, everyone has their own individual way of thinking. They can never agree with someone else at all times, owing to their different cultures, different backgrounds and different countries. Secondly, journalists may be bribed by magnates and the government. Consequently, the credibility of news is further affected. Last but not least, several journalists are keen on the gossip of the distinguished persons, which is always fabricated by them.

Based on the arguments discussed above, we can draw the conclusion that we must enhance the ability of distinguish true from false in the Information Age. Only by equipping ourselves with adequate knowledge, can we step nearer to the truth.

The 21st century is an information age. The prominent feature of this era is that the enormous information almost floods us. The up-to-date news can be got at anytime and anywhere. Gradually, someone says we should not trust what the journalists tell us since the news has already been immense. To my knowledge, news can be creditable as long as it is on a basis of objectivity.

Nobody can deny that news plays a significant role in our society. Individuals know what’s going on in the world via news reports. As it has come to be known, the cover of an incident is usually objective, for it only explains in detail the course of that incident. From my perspective, that kind of news can invariably be trusted and to some extant, it even makes our life more convenient. For instance, the ChongQing police once said they could use the news report to carry out their work on combating crimes. Taking the WenChuan earthquake for another example, without those timely reports on the situation of the disaster-stricken areas, other people, who were closely tied with those persons in the first front, could not know the conditions of their beloved ones.

As for some one’s [someone 不用分开吧]thought that journalists can not be trusted, to my point of view that’s unavoidable. The press is just like business. The profits always drive businesses to exaggerate something so as to maximize its profits. Besides, some journalist writes[write] a report without collecting facts from different aspects. That is another reason why people do not believe them. But all to all[all in all], it is only a rare phenomenon compare with the large amount of news reports.

To wrap up, news can be trusted to a large extent provided that it is on a basis of objectivity. So I strongly recommend people to look at one thing from different aspects. Only this way can he know what is believable.

These days, an increasing number of news, which ranges from diplomatic issues to ordinary trivia, has swarmed into our lives through newspaper, television, [the]internet and so on. As most of us have developed an unshakable faith in reports and press for a long time, we will take it for granted that all the information we obtain from assorted news must be real, authentic and objective. [仿写得很棒哈]But is the fact like this? As a matter of fact, from where I stand, we should selectively choose to trust what journalists have written for us.

To be sure, there are considerable factors to uphold the traditional opinion. To begin with, the majority of news surrounding us is covered according to the essential principle of news reporting and those published from formal press organizations are trustworthy. Secondly, professional journalists and editors with notable career morality will resist any temptations to make something false or exaggerated just for the sake of their own interests. Finally, with the multi[multiple] means to approach information, it will be easy to draw a distinction between true and false news.

Reasonable as the traditional idea is, I still want to oppose it, for a list of reasons are behind my view. Above all, thanks to the internet’s ability to spread information at a surprising speed, a great deal of grassroots and blog writers express their words, pictures and videos, mostly aiming at appealing to web citizens’ focus. These deeds are invariably irresponsible and possibly causing vile impacts on society and individuals. Not only does such phenomenon contribute towards making a mistake, but also the prevalent orientation is largely to blame. In the interest of gain and headline, it seems to be potential[hidden, potential主要是说潜力,另外娱乐圈的潜规则叫做 casting couch] rule that, especially for entertainment reporters, only something exaggerated and make-up can be highlighted and luring readers to buy their magazines and newspapers.

Generally speaking, there is no need to reject all sorts of media, but when we scan them, it is necessary to pay extra attention and don’t take everything seriously.

Living in the era of information, we are surrounded by various kinds ofInformation everyday. Among a variety of means offered us with numerous Information, news is a critical channel. However, since some reports have turned out to be fake and ridiculous, people in increasing amount tend to be less trust what the journalists tell us. From my perspective, I hold a supportive attitude towards people should not be gullible enough to accept all the journalists’ words as true and ought to be skeptical about the news. Facing diverse news, we can judge them by our knowledge and enough convincing facts.
When reading entertainment news, we often feel shocked and confused about some of them. However, since that news is often described in details and reported in an affirmative tone, often including some photos taken by paparazzi. Therefore, [两句合成一句,不要therefore,已经有sincel了]we tend to believe it. Nevertheless, in most cases, we find what we believe is totally wrong and fake in the end, making us surprised and a little depressed. The situation indicates that some[news不可数] news are not true, but aim at something else, for instance, hyping. The better attitude to such news, especially news about gossip, from my point of view, is to be skeptical, and just wait and see since the greatest touchstone of any work is time.
Yet, it does not mean that we should always doubt information from news. It depends on types and subjects of news to a great degree. News about policy, economy, science, technology and so on can be more convincing and trustful, while news about gossip of stars or about some anecdotes and [去掉and]etc may need further reflection of us. Of course, it is still not absolutely[absolute].
In a word, in order not to be fooled by some fake news, we need to judge them by our own knowledge combined with enough facts. At the same time, we should also not go to extremes. Since media possess the capability of winning the trust of the public, we can basically consider what journalists tell us true, while holding a skeptical attitude to some kind of news can enable us to see clearly.

Recently, the topic is extremely popular. as a reporter of CCTV made fake news for the huge earthquake in Wenchuan Country in Sichuan Province. People soon showed up this reporter and doubt about the issue: In the age of information, people use the flourishing and powerful network of information - such as news and newspapers, but some information-workers - such as the journalists are gradually depriving the populaces' trust as they did not deliver their truth of what is happening, we could no longer trust in our journalists. I personally agree it - if all the journalists are liars - but in fact, not that bad.

As my mother is a journalist for a newspaper herself, I have heard something she told to my father when we dine. She has told us many facts of the journalists making fake news, but she had never done this immoral things herself. She perform the news as they stand. Sometimes she has to deal with something that is very sensitive to write, and she just bypass them, instead of making fake news. So, we can trust in journalists which have good writing skills and good perfessional ethics.

Yet, how do we know if the journalist that I do not know is making fake news? Go think of it, judge it, make sense of it, then reach a conclusion. Take a magazine I have read recently for an example: It says there might be another earthquake during the Olympic Games and I doubt it. First of all, the earthquake just happened just 2 months ago. Big earthquakes usually don't happen in one year; it did not give any evidence either. Think like this, and you can trust on your own opinions instead of journalists.

Overall, some journalists are believable, but not all. The best idea to deal with it is to analyze it, not blindly follows.

Lesson 42 Modern cavemen
Cave exploration, or pot-holing, as it has come to be known, is a relatively new sport. Perhaps it is the desire for solitude or the chance of making an unexpected discovery that lures people down to the depths of the earth. It is impossible to give a satisfactory explanation for a pot-holer's motives. For him, caves have the same peculiar fascination which high mountains have for the climber. They arouse instincts which can only be dimly understood.

Exploring really deep caves is not a task for the Sunday afternoon rambler. Such undertakings require the precise planning and foresight of military operations. It can take as long as eight days to rig up rope ladders and to establish supply bases before a descent can be made into a very deep cave. Precautions of this sort are necessary, for it is impossible to foretell the exact nature of the difficulties which will confront the pot-holer. The deepest known cave in the world is the Gouffre Berger near Grenoble. It extends to a depth of 3,723 feet. This immense chasm has been formed by an underground stream which has tunneled a course through a flaw in the rocks. The entrance to the cave is on a plateau in the Dauphine Alps. As it is only six feet across, it is barely noticeable. The cave might never have been discovered has not the entrance been spotted by the distinguished French pot-holer, Berger. Since its discovery, it has become a sort of potholers' Everest. Though a number of descents have been made, much of it still remains to be explored.

A team of pot-holers recently went down the Gouffre Berger. After entering the narrow gap on the plateau, they climbed down the steep sides of the cave until they came to narrow corridor. They had to edge their way along this, sometimes wading across shallow streams, or swimming across deep pools. Suddenly they came to a waterfall which dropped into an underground lake at the bottom of the cave. They plunged into the lake, and after loading their gear on an inflatable rubber dinghy, let the current carry them to the other side. To protect themselves from the icy water, they had to wear special rubber suits. At the far end of the lake, they came to huge piles of rubble which had been washed up by the water. In this part of the cave, they could hear an insistent booming sound which they found was caused by a small waterspout shooting down into a pool from the roof of the cave. Squeezing through a cleft in the rocks, the pot-holers arrived at an enormous cavern, the size of a huge concert hall. After switching on powerful arc lights, they saw great stalagmites -- some of them over forty feet high -- rising up like tree-trunks to meet the stalactites suspended from the roof. Round about, piles of limestone glistened in all the colours of the rainbow. In the eerie silence of the cavern, the only sound that could be heard was made by water which dripped continuously from the high dome above them.

在新闻中,还经常能听见the public/ the crowd 群众

As it has come to be known As we all know, As is well-known ,It is well known that...,(这几个貌似还不如课文里的), 还有个就是我经常用 Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that...

gain an increasing interest in,be fascinated by , be increasingly enthusiastic about / on,
show increasing zeal for(对...表示出莫大的热情) ,be nutty on, be increasingly indulged in

4.投身于
turn attention to, pour attention into ,plunge into, threw into, commit to,dedicated to,devote to(注意:没 devote into),

5.吸引
除了大大的lure,还有sth appeals to sb, sth exerts a tremendous fascination on sb(这个我经常用)
lure v.
to persuade someone to do something, especially something wrong or dangerous, by making it seem attractive or exciting
☆lure sb into (doing) sth
e.g People may be lured into buying tickets by clever advertising.
☆lure sb away
e.g Computer games are luring youngsters away from their lessons.
to attract customers, workers, money etc from another company or place
☆lure sb back/away
e.g The bank launched an advertising campaign to lure back its traditional customers.
e,g It's very difficult to lure talent away from Silicon Valley.
经过大量数据论证如下:没有 lure sb to do 的用法,只有lure sb into doing

ShangHai Charity Foundation
China Charity Foundation
China International Almsdeed Institute

charitable foundation

philanthropic foundation
Later their heirs would establish the largest philanthropic foundations.
Their heirs would establish the largest philanthropic fundations in America.
Later their heirs would establish the largest philanthropic foundations in America.
Charity fund
Contributins of $5, 000 before the drive began gave the charity fund a runningstart.
Oriental Press Charitable Fund Associatio
charitable foundations
Though the fine arts do exist in the United States, of-ten heavily subsidised by government and charitable foundations, the country's true pulse is popular.

Such undertakings require the precise planning and foresight of military operations."

8.true
其实"sincere love"比"true love"高级多了,ahu大大的"true love from deep inside"很妙哟~
