Tonight , it’s David give a lecture with this English corner . He’s stature is very tall ,about 2.1 meter,he said .
First part ,he used << Family Album, USA>>(《走遍美国》)to teach us .Someone maybe think it’s easy . So ，someone leave.
But second part is good , it's a teamwork ,about "Who must be death ?" the discussion that livened up:
group exercise – students will be presented with the following information and will be put into groups to discuss which person they will choose, and why. debate can follow.
A small boat with six people aboard is quickly sinking in the pacific ocean. there is a lifeboat, but it only holds five people. you must choose one person to stay on the sinking boat. the following is a description of everyone aboard:
- andrew, 90 years old – andrew is a famous scientist with degrees from harvard and yale universities. he is currently researching a cure for aids and many people believe he may succeed. he is divorced and has no children. in the past year, he has had two major heart attacks and doctors do not expect him to live much longer.
- kitty, 50 – kitty was the head nurse at a major hospital in sydney, australia. she was highly trusted and considered by many doctors to be the best nurse they ever worked with. because she spent so much time at work, kitty never married and has no children. she was recently in a car accident and is now disabled, and can never work again.
- jim, 38 – jim is a technician at a nuclear power plant. he is responsible for operating dangerous equipment. he is married and has two sons, ages 12 and 15. his marriage is falling apart because his wife is unfaithful. he has been drinking heavily recently because he is unhappy and people are worried that he will cause a serious accident because he is drunk at work.
- max, 28 – max is a truck driver who spends most of his time on the road. he is married, but rarely sees his wife. instead, he spends a lot of time with different women he meets across the country. his only child died in a car accident last year.
- ray, 19 – ray is a japanese exchange student studying at princeton university. he has become seriously involved with an american girl and hopes to marry her and stay in the united states. his parents disapprove of this idea and want him to return home. ray has not chosen a major and has no career plans.
- divine, 34 – divine is currently unemployed and has no interest in finding a job. she is divorced and has 8 young children. she lives off the american welfare system, but she is a very good mother, with all of her children happy and in excellent healthy.
It mean that a person must be die ,for your choice ?I want to know which one you would choice & why ?
