As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of Old Delhi, we stopped at a square to have a rest. After a time, we noticed a snake charmer with two large baskets at the other side of the square, so we went to have a look at him. As soon as he saw us, he picked up a long pipe which was covered with coins and opened one of the baskets. When he began to play a tune, we had our first glimpse of the snake. It rose out of the basket and began to follow the movements of the pipe. We were very much surprised when the snake charmer suddenly began to play jazz and modern pop songs. The snake, however, continued to 'dance' slowly. It obviously could not tell the difference between Indian music and jazz!

分析句子，谓语动词为：pick up和open
which was covered with coins：定语从句修饰pipe
be covered with:注意prep.with的用法
3、When he began to play a tune, we had our first glimpse of the snake.
glimpse:n. a brief look
get/catch a glimpse of:瞥见

have a glimpse of(无意识):瞥了一眼
glance at(有意识) : 扫了一眼

tell the difference between：区别... （tell：通过观察而辨别出...）
第四部分 KEY STRUCTURES AND USAGE
have+表示动作的n.的用法
1）有时我们可以用have+名词来代替普通动词
2）可以在表示动作的名词前加个修饰形容词
Ex1:
have a + 名词, 这个名词与此同时可以跟动词是同形的
have a bath=bathe
have a swim=swim
have a walk=walk
have a look=look
have a rest=rest
Ex2:
As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of Old Delhi, we stopped at a square to have a rest.
=>As we had walked a long distance through one of the markets of Old Delhi, we stopped at a square to rest.
Those two sailors had a fight in the bar last night.
=>Those two sailors fought in the bar last night.
Did you have a good sleep last night?
=>Did you sleep well last night?
We had our first glimpse of the snake.
=>We glimpsed the snake for the first time
