Please don't quote the following English poem as Tagore's work. It is not. You can quote it as ananymous, or your can quote the translation as by "muyv" , but both the original poem and the translation should have nothing to do with Tagore.

The furthest distance in the world
Translated by muyv
The furthest distance in the world
Is not between life and death
But when i stand in front of you
Yet you don't know that I love you
The furthest distance in the world
Is not when i stand in font of you
Yet you can't see my love
But when undoubtedly knowing the love from both
Yet cannot be togehter
The furthest distance in the world
Is not being apart while being in love
But when plainly can not resist the yearning
Yet pretending you have never been in my heart
The furthest distance in the world
Is not (you have never been in my heart)[1]
But using one's indifferent heart
to dig an uncrossable river
for the one who loves you

[1] I've left it blank here in my original translation because I wasn't sure what to put there,
thinking repeating the last paragraph would just make it too long a sentense. So some quotations
added in this part, some left it blank.

As the original translator for this popular poem on Chinese internet forums, I want to clarify that this translation is not by the famous poet Ranbindranath Tagore, but merely a practice of translation by myself, which is not even free of grammar mistakes.
It was translated from a Chinese poem that has been popular online for a while. Even before my translation in 2003, it was rumored to be written by Tagore, but when I was searching for an English Version, I couldn't find any. So I tried myself on 2003.08.25, and put it on my webpage along with the Chinese version. I also explained on the same page that this is only my own translation. It was put there for personal English practice, and I didn't even finish it as one can see from the last "if not". Therefore, as pointed out by others online, it has quite several grammar mistakes too.
I am an admiror of Tagore's work. Although I feel greatly honored to be quoted on internet, I don't want to tarnish Tagore's name by my own shabby work. It is not until today when I accidentally ran into this English translation did I realize that my work has been taken as Tagore's by quite some readers on line. Therefore I made up this page hoping to stop the mistake.
Finally another word about the poem. I attribute the popularity of the poem from the touching words in its original version. My translation barely add any value to it, if not diminishing the beauty of the original poem.

此诗原来并非泰戈尔的,既然译者出来证明,那么我就在此纠正吧:)
