Hurricane Dean roars into the Caribbean, tearing away roofs, flooding streets and causing at least 3 deaths. Winds reached 150 miles per hour during the Category 4 storm. That’s expected to become a Category 5, when it hits Jamaica and parts of Mexico early next week.
Aid workers rush to Peru’s port city of Pisco and help the estimated 15,000 people who are known to have been injured in Wednesday’s earthquake. The death toll rose to over 500 Saturday, as hopes began to fade for those still trapped underneath the rubble.
