3G The Next Generation in Wireless Technology 
A new technology provides some powerful features for your cell phone 

Your list of errands for the day is long. You need to hold a video conference, answer your email, pay bills and buy a birthday gift. You also need to send a fax and photos to your office. But you’re not worried. With 3G (third generation) technology you can do it all from your cell phone. 
3G, the popular new wireless technology, has internet speeds 40 times faster than older cell phone services. The higher speeds allow video, music, pictures, faxes and movies to be transmitted quickly and easily. 
Another favorite 3G feature is video calling. With it, you can see and hear the person you’re talking with. 
Introduced in Japan in 2001, 3G technology has now taken off worldwide. It was firs t offered in Taiwan in May 2005 by private mobile operator Taiwan mobile. In Europe, 240 million people will use 3G hones by 2009, industry experts predict. 
But the technology may have already found its largest market. Earlier this year, 3G service became available in mainland China, which boasts more than 380 million cell phone users.
