今天白鸽从朋友那里搞到一本英国小学一年级英语课本,没事翻了翻,等翻到第一单元的生词表时,白鸽怔住了。

生词表中两个字母的单词就不说了,但是三个字母的单词里,白鸽居然有1/4的单词不认识——至少没有做到拼说读写四会!
要知道,这可仅仅是人家一年级第一单元的生词!
心平气和地再仔细观察,发现白鸽不认识的这些单词里,有的甚至四六级词汇都没包括,但是——它的确是英美生活中经常用到的单词。
经白鸽和同学们实际测试的结果来看,生词表中以下单词可能大多数大学生都不认识:
bog bud den din dip fen fib fig fin gig hay hip hop jar jay jug keg kin mob mug nay oak oar pug rag rap rip rod sip sly sob tan
下面给出这些生词的完整解释:
bog: an area of low wet muddy ground, sometimes containing bushes or grasses 沼泽地
bud: a young tightly rolled up flower or leaf before it opens 芽
den: the home of some animals 兽穴
din: a loud unpleasant noise that continues for a long time 喧闹声,噪音
dip: to put something into a liquid and lift it out again 浸,蘸

kin: your most closely related family 亲戚
mob: a large noisy crowd, especially one that is angry and violent 乌合之众
mug: a tall cup used for drinking tea, coffee 杯子
nay: used to say no 不
oak: a large tree that is common in northern countries, or the hard wood of this tree 橡树
oar: a long pole with a wide flat blade at one end, used for rowing a boat 桨
pug: a small short-haired dog with a wide flat face, a very short nose and a curly tail 哈巴狗
rag: a small piece of old cloth, for example one used for cleaning things 抹布
rap: a series of quick sharp hits or knocks (连续而又急促有力地)敲击
rip: to tear something or be torn quickly and violently撕裂
rod: a long thin pole or bar 杆,棒
sip: to drink something slowly, taking very small mouthfuls 呷,啜饮
sly: someone who is sly cleverly deceives people in order to get what they want 狡猾的
sob: to cry noisily while breathing in short sudden bursts 呜咽
