Lesson 6 - DRAG / TRIP

1.drag ，意思是没意思，枯燥； to call something a drag means it is tiresome.

Our professor Dr. Smith a drag. 我们的教授 Smith 博士没劲，没意思。

You're such a drag. 你真没劲

2.trip ，意思是与众不同，别出心裁，但是含有褒意。 the word trip does mean travel, but here it means something that is unusual, in a good way.

That guy over there, sitting on the bench. The long hair and wild clothes. I really like his outfit, so I would call him a trip.

坐在长板凳上的那个留着长头发，穿着很怪的男人，我喜欢他的衣服，所以我认为他与众不同，别有风味。

 

Lesson 7 - CHOKE / MONEY

1.To choke 是糟糕，失败的意思；

I think New York is going to lose. Knowing them, their going to choke. 我觉得纽约队要输了。

In fact, I choked on a test last week. 实际上，我上周考试考糟了。

2.money 是保持高水平，非常棒的意思。

Michael Jordan will make the last shot. He is money. 是指他打球一直保持在高水平上，一直打得很棒。

You can also call things money. For example, this pizza we are eating is money. 凡是好的东西都可以说是 money 。比如正在吃的比萨饼是很好吃。

Lesson 8 - HANG OUT / HARD-HEADED

1.hang out ， 意思是等一等，或跟朋友一起玩 ； Hang out means to pass time while you're waiting. 等待的时间

It can also mean to spend time with your friends. For example, you and I hang out a lot.

跟朋友一起玩也能说是 hang out ，例如，我们经常在一起活动。

2.hard headed ， 意思是 : 顽固，固执 。 Hard headed does mean stubbon, they have the same meaning.

Hard headed is only an adjetive to describe people. hard headed 是一个只能形容人的形容词。

 

Lesson 9 - ALL-NIGHTER / CRAM

1.all-nighter, 意思是开夜车；

I've got a lot of studying to do. I'm going to need to pull an all-nighter. 我有很多功课，我得开夜车了。

pull an all-nighter ，就是迫使自己整夜念书。

You wouldn't have to pull an all-nighter because you have been studying all semester.

你不需要开夜车，因为你整个一学期都在学习。

2.cram, 是指中学生或大学生在考试前临时抱佛脚。

I perform better on tests when I cram. cram 是临时抱佛脚，在考试前猛记猛背，把知识往脑子里塞。

It's only used to describe studying for a test, usually college or high-school level. 只指大学生或中学生在考试前开夜车，临时抱佛脚。

 

Lesson 10 - DRAINED / WIRED

1.drained ，意思是非常累 ； Drained, it means exhausted.

You are full of energy. But I'm drained, I'm going to sleep. 你真是精力充沛。但是我非常累，我打算睡了。

To be physically drained and emotionally drained. For example, if a couple fight all the time, they would be emotionally tired, which you can also call drained.

drained 可以指体力很累，也可以指一个人在情绪上压力很大。要是一对夫妇老是吵架，那肯定情绪很不好。

You don't even seem drained after the mid-terms. 期中考试没让你觉得累。

2.wired ，意思是精力充沛 . This word has a couple of meanings. One means to be energetic and the other means to have nervous energy.

You have been participating in the meetings to make decisions about our college

你参加了一些会议，讨论有关学校的某些决定。
