Relating a Fable to Business
David:So now as China has entered the WTO, I imagine the automobile industry has to reorganize its regulation to the policy. Is it true?
David:How does it go?
David:He made a mark on the side of the boat?
You:是的。
David:So how does this story relate to the current situation?
Yes, it is true. It is necessary for the China company. There is an older fable about the adaptation to the new environment.
American companies are really struggling in this bad economy.
How could you fall for that old trick?
Yes, you’re right. Chinese automobile companies will need to adopt new business strategies. Speaking of which, there is an old fable about adaptation to a new environment.

Once a night, with his sword in the boat, at the bank, he drop his sword inwater while the boat go to the outside bank. He took a knife and carved the boat a mark, and said: my sword was dropped right here.
Once a night:“once a night”表示每晚发生一次。作为故事开头我们常用“one night”或“once upon a time”。例如:
Once upon a time, there lived a peasant named Aladdin.
One night, a man was taking a boat from one side of the river to the other. Just as the boat started off, the man dropped his sword in the water. So he took a knife and carved a notch in the boat to mark exactly the spot where he dropped his sword.

So, if the Chinese company don’t want to change
his regulations or policy in the new environment, he will be
loser.
That company has a reputation for its products being cheap and breaking after a few months.
The moral of the story is if a Chinese company refuses to alter its business practices in the changing market, it will simply lose out.
