You：现在越来越多的学生选择出国留学。你对这种趋势怎么看？
David：Many students want to learn more about western culture and business. This has been increasingly important after China entered the WTO. However, some students want to study abroad in order to move there.许多学生想要了解西方的文化和商业经济。中国加入WTO以后，这变得尤为重要了。然而，也有一些学生想要移民出去。
You：留学生回中国的比例是多少？
David：I personally don’t know. It depends. If they get accustomed to the country, they stay. 我不太清楚，视情况而定。如果他们适应了新的生活，就会留下来。
You：我看过一些描写在国外生活的中国人的电影。开始时他们可能觉得挺开心，但随着时间的推移，他们会觉得在一个不同文化的国家生活非常困难，或感觉受到不平等待遇。
David：They don’t have confidence?是他们对自己没有信心吗？
You：问题出在他们的信心还是他们的国籍呢？为了拿到绿卡，一些人不惜一切代价地拼命工作。然而当他们拿到了绿卡，他们可能发现真正的问题在于一些人因为他们是亚洲人而歧视他们。
David：Two things make it difficult to live abroad. One thing is that it may be illegal to work there and the other thing is that some people may prefer hiring people from their own country rather than foreigners. It’s different here in China. Foreigners are more welcomed here.完全不合法的艰苦工作和工作机会的不平等（一些人喜欢雇佣自己国家的人工作）使得中国人在国外生活非常艰难，而在中国就不一样了，外宾是很受欢迎的。

常见错误：Now I know more and more students choose to study abroad. What do you think of this matter?
I know：“I know”是多余的。“I know”有时只用来强调所说的内容。例如：
Xiao Bai, where are my chocolate cookies? I know you took them.
小白，我的巧克力饼干哪儿去了？我知道是你拿了。

常见错误：But I have seen a movie the Chinese live abroad, sometimes they may feel happy, but as time go by, they will think maybe the different culture is very difficult, or they don’t have the equal position.
the Chinese：定冠词the+国籍，指该国人民。例如： The British like to drink tea also. 英国人也都喜欢喝茶。但这里说话者只是指部分中国人，并非全体；所以，应该改成Chinese people (who live abroad)。
as time go by：这个短语中，主谓要保持数的一致。Time是单数，所以go应用第三人称单数。这个句子常用来形容时间的流逝。其他类似的表达法还有“as time passes”、“over a period of time”和“after some time”等。
参考答案：I have seen movies about Chinese people who live abroad. They might be happy at times but as time goes by they might find living in a different culture very difficult. They might also find that they aren’t treated as equals.

常见错误：Maybe the nationality. Some people, in order to get the green card, maybe they will do many many things and try their best. Even when they get it, maybe they will also find some other difficulty between them and others live in the society. Because some people have the thought that you are Asian and we are European.
Others：“others”是一种中式英语，应该是“other people”。
参考答案：Is the problem their confidence or their nationality? In order to get a green card some people will work hard and pour their heart and soul into this endeavor. When they get the green card, however, they might discover that there are some problems with other people. Some people discriminate against them because they are Asian.
