CNN Radio, I’m Jim Ribble. The price of oil today went over the all time high, meaning now it’s more expensive than ever, even adjusted for inflation. At ?? of US$103.7 a barrel today. Until now economists have been saying the oil in inflation-adjusted terms was more expensive by 1980.
The Commerce Department reports construction spending in January fell by 1.7%, that’s a largest one-month drop since 1994. And Institute for Supply Management’s US manufacturing activity actually shrank in February. It’s now the weakest point nearly 5 years.
A US military airstrike against terrorists in Somalia. CNN’s ??? reports from Washington. She’s been ??? developments. American Forces dropped precision missiles on target in the Somalia village near the border with Kenya. The Pentagon says the target was known terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda. But on the ground a local official tells CNN that airstrike killed 3 women, 3 children and injured 20 others. The pentagon says it was précised and focused in the strike in who they think was hit. Somalia has long been a hot bed of anti-American activity. The US launched similar airstrikes in 2007.
