The 4th Day
I got up early this morning. It seemed that I am more hardworking in the United States than I was in Shanghai. Schnell and I visited Manhattan today.
We went to there by Metro No. 7. About 30 minutes later we found ourselves standing on the 42nd Street and Times Square ---- the terminal station of Metro No. 7. Here you can see very high buildings thrust into the sky as if they would scrape the sky, that’s why they are called skyscrapers.
We walked along Broadway, enjoying the beautiful scenery of both sides, sometimes we stopped to take pictures. The skyscrapers in Manhattan remind me of Shanghai. I think Shanghai is no less superior to New York as far as the number of skyscrapers is concerned. Later I knew from the New Yorkers that it is stipulated that skyscrapers are only allowed to be built in Manhattan area.
We walked northward along Broadway, and before we knew it, Central Park was in front of us. We were deeply impressed by the environment here, huge trees with squirrels scampering merrily, ther are many large patches of lawnss. Some people were lying on the grass for sunbath. Some families were picnicking. Some young men and women were jogging along the ring road; many cylists were cycling. Some tourists were sightseeing on rickshaws or carts. You can hardly imagine that at the center of Manhattan there should be so large a park with 25 acres of lawns. In China you should feel lucky enough if you happen to live in the downtown area with a mini park near your neighbourhood because the prices of land in this kind of area are so high that the real estate companies try to use up every inch of land to build more houses and make more money.

Our next stop is Columbia University. We toured around the beautiful campus, taking some pictures. Nobody knows me and I know nobody there. Not being the President of any country, I was not invited by the President of Columbia University to deliver a speech to his students. But in a few days he will invite President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to amke a speech to the students of International Affairs Department. So I don't need to rack my brain to make preparations and answer tough questions. It was an easy trip for me.

We came to Wall Street by Metro No. 1. Wall Street is such a short street but it should be so famous. We took some pictures of New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve. It only took us a little time to get to the WTC (WorldTradeCenter) site where a new building is being built. As it was getting dark, we started our journey back by taking Metro No. E and get transferred at the 42nd Street. We had our dinner in a Chinese restaurant. In Shanghai you may think the food is rubbish, but here the meal was the best Chinese dish we had ever had since we arrived at New York. When we came back to our department, it was already 7o’clock in the evening. This is my 4th day in New York.
