《海的女儿》是我从小最喜欢的童话故事，所以，迪斯尼的《小美人鱼》是我最不喜欢的迪斯尼动画长片。
是的，我没有打错，最“不”喜欢的一部。因为过度不忠于原著过度美国快餐化，虽说后来的《花木兰》也颇不具中国特色，但最多就是发挥想象加了点油添了点醋，至少没有篡改结局这样的做法。多么优美哀伤的《海的女儿》，到迪斯尼手里却成了一场喧哗的闹剧，让人看着哭笑不得。（《钟楼驼侠》尚没有看过，看介绍已经觉得会很荒唐了……）我就不懂为什么所有迪斯尼的女主角都必须反叛不羁？况且原著中的小美人鱼如此温婉可人、用情深切，又怎么会为了和父亲吵上一架就离家出走受骗上当呢？说起来，迪斯尼还是爱把所有角色做成美式风格，而小美人鱼，恰好是最不合适的那个。
好了好了，暂且把原著放下不管，就当《小美人鱼》是独立存在的一部原创卡通，那么，它还是有很多可取之处的。首先，在80年代末能把海底世界呈现得五彩斑斓，确实是充满了想象力；其中人物的个性设定，也算是有趣。不得不提的是那只红蟹指挥家，着实是个塑造得相当成功的“人”物。为其配音的Samuel E. Wright之后又在《狮子王》中为木法沙配音，这样大的差异，却把握得这样精准，可见其实力不凡。该片的音乐相当成功，其中以这首Kiss the Girl 和Under the Sea为上，非常好听。
