Let me begin by thanking you, Mr. Levin, for your kind invitation and the opportunity to come to Yale to meet young friends and teachers of this world-renowned university. Coming to the Yale campus, with its distinctive academic flavor, and looking at the eager young faces in the audience, I cannot but recall my great experience studying at Qinghua University in Beijing 40 years ago. Indeed, what happens during one's school year will influence his whole life. I still benefit greatly from the instruction and my interaction with other students. //

Yale is renowned for its long history, unique way of teaching and excellence in academic pursuit. If time could go back several decades, I would really like to be a student of Yale just like you. Yale's motto “Light and Truth,” which is a calling for human progress, represents the aspiration of every motivated young man and woman. Over the past three centuries, Yale has produced a galaxy of outstanding figures, including 20 Nobel laureates and five American presidents.//

首先，我感谢莱文校长的邀请，使我有机会来到世界著名学府耶鲁大学，同青年朋友和老师们相聚在一起。进入耶鲁大学的校园，看到莘莘学子青春洋溢的脸庞，呼吸着书香浓郁的空气，我不由回想起40年前在北京清华大学度过的美好时光。学生时代，对人的一生都会产生重要影响。当年老师们对我的教诲，同学们给我的启发，我至今仍受用不尽。 //

耶鲁大学以悠久的发展历史、独特的办学风格、卓著的学术成就闻名于世。如果时光能够倒流几十年，我真希望成为你们中的一员。耶鲁大学校训强调追求光明和真理，这符合人类进步的法则，也符合每个有志青年的心愿。300多年来，耶鲁大学培养出一大批杰出人才，其中包括20位诺贝尔奖获得者、5位美国总统。//

 The one-China principle is the basis and prerequisite for achieving peaceful reunification, Any question can be discussed under one-China principle. The people of the whole of China cannot allow the resolution of the Taiwan issue to be dragged on indefinitely. The election of a new leader in Taiwan cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of Chinese territory. Our guideline for solving the Taiwan question is "peaceful reunification and the one country, two systems".The Taiwanese authorities must abandon "two states" statement.//

To safeguard national unity bears on the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation. We Chinese people will safeguard our state sovereignty and territorial integrity with firm resolve. We will never allow anyone to separate Taiwan from China in any way. We place our hopes on the people in Taiwan for the settlement of the Taiwan question and the realization of the complete reunification of China. Our compatriots in Taiwan have a glorious patriotic tradition and are an important force in developing cross-straits relations. We fully respect their life style and their wish to be the masters of our country.//

一个中国原则是实现和平统一的基础和前提, 在一个中国原则下，什么问题都可以谈. 不能允许台湾问题的解决再无限期地拖下去了. 台湾新领导人的选举，并不能改变台湾是中国领土的一部分的事实, 我们解决台湾问题的原则是"和平统一祖国和一国两制",台湾当局必须抛弃"两国"论.//

维护祖国统一事关中华民族的根本利益，中国人民将义无反顾地捍卫国家主权和领土完整，绝不允许任何人以任何形式把台湾从中国分割出去。解决台湾问题，实现祖国的完全统一，我们寄希望于台湾人民。台湾同胞具有光荣的爱国主义传统，是发展两岸关系的重要力量。我们充分尊重台湾同胞的生活方式和当家作主的愿望。//

Unity, friendship, peace and advancement are not only the doctrine of Olympic games and world athletic spirit but the shared goal all human beings need and have been aspiring and pursuing for. //

It’s more important to participate than to win, which is the motto and Olympic Games as well as the truth of Olympic Games. What is vital in life is not triumph but efforts, and the essence is not to win but to make ourselves braver, stronger, more prudent and more generous and open-minded.//

经济全球化是一个过程，它充分发挥市场的作用，尽量减少政府对于经济活动的干预程度。发达国家将是经济全球化的最大受益者而大多数发展中国家将被动地参与经济全球化的进程。//

之所以发展中国家会处于不利位置是因为世界上仍然存在不公正的国际政治，经济秩序，这种不利倾向还将继续下去。世界经济全球化不会使全球共同致富是因为经济全球化进程中所创造的世界财富将落入少数发达国家的手中，而大多数发展中国家将仍然面临边缘化的可能。//

Economic globalization is a process that brings the market into full play and reduces to the maximum extent the level of government interference in economic activities. Developed states will be the biggest beneficiaries from economic globalization process while most of the developing countries will be passively involved in it.//

The reason why the developing states are put at a disadvantage is that there still exists an unfair international political and economic order and the unfavorable tendency will continue. Worldwide economic globalization will by no means lead to global common prosperity in that the world wealth created in the economic globalization process will fall into the hands of a handful of developed countries and a majority of developing countries will still face the likelihood of being marginalized.//
