新托福口语第三题考点:

²        阅读+听力+

²        阅读与校园生活话题相关的短文,40-45

²        听到一段讨论(一个或两个说话者),要么支持,要么反对,60-80

²        依据阅读和听力材料中的信息说明观点和支持观点的理由, 60

²        不需要考生说明自己的观点

模板:

1.  对阅读的文章与听到的内容做比较

According to the reading, ... while according to the conversation/talk, ...

2. 直接提出对话中的一人不同意/同意阅读中的内容

The man/woman does not agree/agrees with the announcement in the reading that ... because he/she believes that ...

The man/woman opposes the announcement that ... for the following reasons:

The man/woman believes that ... (something) should (or not)...

注意:

    1. 很多学生在例举原因的时候会用:firstly, secondly, thirdly。但是很少有人在正常说话时,说我不同意某件事情的原因有这些,一,...;二,...; 三,...

所以大家只要例出原因即可,在每个原因之间稍稍做个停顿。或者可用连接词,比如,aside from, besides, in addition.如果只有两个原因,可用: on one hand, ...; on the other hand, ... 这样反而能显示出你的英语水平。

2.       在表达某人的观点除了用think以外,还可用以下的表达方式:

        The man/woman believes that...

        The man/woman expresses that...

        The man/woman points out that...

        在表达“我认为”的时候,还可用以下的表达方式:

        I believe/suppose/guess/figure that...

5. Interaction
语言的学习需要大量的练习,即要会运用学到的词汇和表达方式。只有不断地练习,才能正确流利地表达,达到native的程度。许多学生因为怕犯语法错误而闭口不说,但是闭口不说,却会导致更多的错误。所以往往喜欢说的学生会有更多的进步。当你在和朋友用英语聊天的时候,你可以要求对方指出你犯的错误。一个人不可能多次犯同样的错误,这样慢慢地,你的语法错误就会少了,交流就更有效了。
6. Movie watching
学习英语最好的办法之一就是看原版电影或电视剧。但是需要注意的一点就是:千万不能看中文字幕!而是要看英文字幕!通过看电影学英语其实也很累,因为你需要不停pause, rewind, and forward,之间还需要查字典,做笔记。所以一部电影可能会需要好几天才能完成。我相信大家都能找到很多英语电影。我在这就推荐两部非常精彩的美剧吧。
Gray's Anatomy 实习医生格蕾
Lost 迷失
7. Travel abroad
最昂贵的学习英语的方法就是去英语国家旅游。有英语环境,在不得不说英语的环境下,我相信你的英语水平会在短期内有很大的提高。出国旅游不仅能提高你的语言水平,还能帮你了解该国的文化和社会。

在中文中,经常有人会这么写:步入社会以后,竞争更激烈。但是如果翻译成英文,让你理解起来就很费劲了(The competition is fiercer after entering  society)。在英文中,society是始终都存在,from the moment you are born till the death. 如果你逐字翻译,就会有人问:If you are not in a society, where are you?
我在回上海的火车上,经过杭州站后,听到乘务员说:The last stop is Shanghai. 在这句话中,last用得不好,会引起歧义。last有最后和上一个的意思,那么这里是说终点站是上海呢,还是上一站是上海呢?我乘坐的火车终点站为上海,所以更好的说法是:The terminal stop is Shanghai。

中国人结婚都讲究排场,通常会租一批黑色高级轿车,载着新人绕城一圈。然而,在美国,当你看到十几辆黑色轿车一一驶过时,那就是去参加葬礼。白色是美国婚礼的主色,而红色是中国婚礼的主色。在美国,大家会各自驱车去参加婚礼,而没有新人租十几辆轿车绕城的做法。不过在美国结婚租一辆limo(limousine)还是很常见的。
美国婚礼
男女双方在结婚前会各自邀朋友举行bachelor's party,来告别单身生活。
婚礼之前会有一个wedding rehearsal, 以确保婚礼万无一失。男方家长付rehearsal dinner的费用,女方家长付婚礼的费用。不过现在也有很多年轻人自己承担婚礼的所有费用。
The groom is not supposed to see his bride in her wedding dress.
美国婚礼分为ceremony和party两个部分。Ceremony一般是在中午或下午一、两点教堂举行;party可以在任何地方,包括dinner,最常见的就是在ballroom举行,通常从下午五、六点开始,一直到次日凌晨甚至更晚才结束。
新娘在结婚当天需要穿戴四样东西: something new, something old, something blue, and something borrowed.
something new 代表新生活/家庭的开始
something old 代表过去的生活
something blue 代表忠贞
something borrowed 表示当遇到困难时,会有家人和朋友来帮助
party结束后,通常就开始honeymoon了。

不断有学生问我如何才能把英语学好。答案就只有一个字:练!但是要如何练才有效呢,我总结了自己学习英语的经历,跟大家分享。
1. passion
对英语的兴趣或是激情很重要,因为它是一种动力,可是推动你学习英语。记得我上初中的时候,英语只能考70几分,可以说我根本没有兴趣学习英语。于是爸妈就帮我请了一个家教,辅导我。英语家教很耐心,我很喜欢,就慢慢开始喜欢学习英语了,把学英语当成了一种爱好。我的英语成绩升至top 3。
2. confidence
信心也特别重要。你要相信自己可以学好。很多学生会害怕张口说英语,因为怕犯错误。但是每个成功的English speaker都是这么过来的,也包括母语是英语的人。学习第一语言和学习第二语言是一样的道理。同样的错误犯多了,你就不会再犯了。比如中文中没有第三人称单数这个用法,如:她/他是,而英语则为She/He has...我相信只要你经常说,就不会说成She/He have
第一语言与第二语言的学习非常有趣,我会专门写一篇文章,对中文与英语做一些比较。在了解中英文之不同点和相同点之后,会更好地帮助你学习英语。
3. input
4. output
其实在上一点中,我已经有提到了output,即,把你学到的倒出来。有时候你会发现Practice does not make perfect, 所以我把这句话改成了:Practice makes better.

In this article, the author gives an overview of TOEFL listening, summarizes problems and difficulties in listening among English learners, and offers some solutions and tips for improving listening competence. The author shares her TOEFL listening experience, hopefully, to help other test takers better prepare for the internet-based TOEFL  Overview       TOEFL listening is very different from Chinese English examinations which test comprehension of specific (and more of the time, unimportant) details of the listening materials. TOEFL listening usually consists of two conversations and four lectures which altogether last about 60 minutes, and sometimes another conversation and two lectures which take another 30 minutes. TOEFL listening measures test takers’ ability to listen for basic comprehension, pragmatic understanding and to connect and synthesize information.       Basic comprehension requires the test takers to understand the main idea, major points, and important details related to the main idea. But comprehension of all details is not necessary. For example: if it’s a conversation between two students, you will probably be asked what the students are mainly talking about.       Pragmatic understanding requires the test takers to recognize a speaker’s attitude, degree of certainty, and purpose. Questions in this category may include: Why does the man talk about…? What is the main purpose of the talk?       Connecting and synthesizing information requires the test takers to recognize the organization of information presented, understand the relationships between ideas presented (for example, compare/contrast, cause/effect, or steps in a process), make inferences and draw conclusions based on what is implied in the material, make connections among pieces of information in a conversation or lecture, and recognize topic changes. Questions of this category may include: What is one difference between … and …? What will the man probably do? What does the professor imply about …?       All the listening materials are from Northern American colleges and universities, covering almost every subject (arts, life science, physical science, and social science). The test takers do not need to acquire the background knowledge of every field because the answers to all of the questions can be found in the conversations or lectures. However, if test takers are familiar with the subject of the listening materials, it will definitely make the test easier to complete.  Problems and Difficulties If you are not exposed to English often, the listening portion of the TOEFL exam can be your biggest enemy. If you have one or more of the following problems and difficulties, you need to strengthen your listening competence IMMEDIATELY. 1.        Some words are very familiar, but you do not remember what they mean.2.        You understand every single word you heard, but you do not understand what they mean when they are all put into a sentence together.3.        When there is one word you do not recognize, you stop listening unintentionally and try to figure out what it means.4.        You have difficulties understanding English speakers with certain accents.5.        You write down almost everything you hear.6.        When you go back to your notes, you cannot read them. SolutionsSecond/foreign language learning resembles the first language learning - it requires consistent exposure to the target language. A simple example to illustrate is that a mother says “Mommy” all the time to her child, hoping the child will say the word “Mommy” first. If you grew up in an English speaking country or family, you would have absolutely no problem in TOEFL listening.       To tackle the problems and difficulties mentioned above, consult the following list of possible solutions:1.        Your inability to recognize a very familiar word is because you are NOT FAMILIAR enough with it. You never need to pause and think what the name means in What’s your name, do you? All you need to do with this problem is to frequently say the words aloud, that is, to use the words in spoken English as much as possible. The more they are used,  the more familiar you are with them.2.        The failure to comprehend a complete sentence despite the fact that you know every single word in it is probably due to your lack of knowledge of certain expressions. For example, you know what cats and dogs mean separately, but you do not know what raining cats and dogs means (it means it is raining very heavily). You need to increase your exposure to English to avoid this problem. This can be accomplished by watching movies, reading newspapers or communicating with native speakers.3.        You need to stop thinking about the word you did not get or you will risk missing out on the rest of the information. What you need to do is write down the word (phonetically, if you don’t know how to spell it) and try to figure out the meaning according to its context if necessary. 4.        Watch a lot of movies with different accents. TOEFL listening is mainly delivered by Americans, so you need to familiarize yourself with American English. 5.        TOEFL listening does not measure test takers’ ability to memorize details, so you do not need to write down everything. Note-taking should assist memory but not dominate the whole process. When you write down everything, you will find that you do not actually get the main idea in the end. Try to spend most of your time getting the main ideas and note down important information only.6.        When you take notes, make sure you write clearly, and write only one piece of information per line. Use abbreviations to save time (for example, write knldg instead of knowledge). You can also use both Chinese and English in note-taking to improve efficiency. My experienceThere is no short-cut in language learning, but knowing some strategies and avoiding bad habits can greatly accelerate the process. Getting to know about TOEFL listening and spend plenty of time practicing are very important. Besides doing TOEFL listening models, you need to expand your sources of input. You can not really separate listening from speaking, reading and writing in language learning.

The following are American websites that are good for both information and languagelearning:
