A new public opinion study in the United States says sixty-one percent of Americans disapprove of President Bush’s effort in Iraq. The study suggests that Mr. Bush’s approval rating on all issues has dropped to forty-two percent. Fifty-one percent of those questioned said they do not like the way he is carrying out his duties as president.  
Israeli Finance Minister B has resigned to protest government’s planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Mr. N’s announcement came just before the Israeli cabinet voted to approve the start of first part of the withdrawal. Israeli media report assistants to Prime minister A say the resignation will not affect the start of the withdrawal. In other news a ten-year old boy has been severely wounded by gunfire near the West bank S of A. The gunfire was directed at an Israeli owned car. 
American researchers say they have developed a medicine that they hope will prevent infection from a deadly form of bird flu. A government expert in infectious disease says the vaccine has proven effective in a meaningful number of people. He says the test suggests that the vaccine could protect humans if the current influenza problem in Asia spreads around the world. Bird flu has killed more than sixty people since two thousand three. Millions of birds have died of the disease or have been destroyed to help prevent the spread of the disease.

On Friday the leaders of the British Islamic center said they warned police two years ago about a group of young Muslin extremists. The group included one of the suspects in the July twenty first bombings. British officials would not (comment) on the report. 

And United States space shuttle discovery has left the international space station and begun its two-day trip back to earth. While connected to the space station the shuttle scurvies it with tons of supplies and equipment. A shuttle astronaut also repaired the shuttle by removing peaces of protective material during a space walk. Discovery is expected to land early Monday in F. During discovery’s launch insolation form material came off the external fuel tank. The same problem destroyed the shuttle K more than two years ago. NASA has suspended future space flights until the problem is fixed.

In other news American and Iraq troops continue a military operation in western A province. American military officials say information form a local citizen led to the destruction of three possible car bombs in the town of T. 

Thousands of people gathered Saturday in H Japan to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing. People in H gathered before sunrise at the (abomgdom) in the center of the city to lay flowers and praise for the dead. The city observed a moment of silence at eight fifteen AM local time. That is when the world’s first atomic bomb was dropped on August sixth, 1945. After another United States bombing of the city of N the Japanese unconditionally surrendered on August fifteenth, 1945 ending world war two. 

Chinese officials say a powerful ocean storm in the southeastern coastal area has forced more than one million people to leave their homes. At least one person was killed. State media say the storm reached land Saturday just north of the city of Wengzhou in Zhejiang province. The storms winds reached more than one hundred-forty kilometers an hour. The storm forced officials in the city of Shanghai to close the country’s busiest port. Air traffic in the area has been (grounded). The Taifeng is expected to weaken as it moves northwest over land. But, weather experts warned of heavy rain and flooding. Land and ruts slides are also possible.

Thousands of P have gathered in the streets of Gaza city to cerebrate a planed Israeli withdraw from the Gaza strip. Prime minister A spoke to a cheering crowd in the city’s center square. He described what he called thirty-eight years of ugly occupation coming to a land. The event was part of a P campaign to support a peaceful withdraw. Israel is preparing to remove eight thousand five hundred settlers from the territory in two weeks. 

The American space Agency NASA is expected to decide soon if another space walk is needed to repair damage to the shuttle discovery. Engineers are concerned about a (tare) in protective material surrounding the shuttle. They fear the material could break off during the reentry into the earth atmosphere and strike discovery. On Wednesday, astronaut S successfully completed a space walk to remove two damaged parts below the shuttle. The discovery crew held a ceremony Wednesday to honor seven C astronauts killed in 2003.

Thousand of British police are guarding the streets of London for weeks after the bomb attacks on the city’s transportation system. Fifty-six people were killed in the July seventh attacks. Similar bomb attacks in the city failed two weeks later on July twenty first. Police officials say they do not have any real information about another attack. But, they say the presents of six thousand police should help make the public feel safe. Earlier, a court in London ordered official charges against the first suspect (believe) links to the failed bombings. I is to remain in jail until his next court appearance August eleventh. He is accused of withholding information that may have helped police find a suspect attacker. 

In Sudan, at least one hundred thirty people have been killed in violent riots following the death of vice President John Garang. More than three hundred fifty others were wounded. The S red crossing says most of the death happened in the capital K. the organization also says several people died in the southern towns of J and M. K is reportedly to become Thursday. However, the many business areas in the city are severely damaged. Riots in the city began Monday after Mr. Garang’s death in a helicopter cash was announced.
