Mario Capecchi is a researcher at the University of Utah. He was born in Italy, in 1937. He was homeless and on his own for years as a young boy. His mother has been sent to a Nazi Germany death camp but she survived and after she was freed she found him in a hospital. He was nine years old and been treated for severe malnutrition. They came to the United States where he entered school for the first time. Later, he become an American citizen

Oliver Smithies was born in Britain in 1925 and also become an American citizen. He is a profession (professor) at the University of North Carolina. And, at age 50, he learned to fly. He flied a motor glider and small airplanes.

Oliver Smithies 1925年生于英国,并且其也成为了一位美国公民。他现在是北卡罗莱纳大学的教授。在他50岁时,他学会了飞行。他驾驶过滑翔机和小型飞机。

Martin Evans was born in 1941, also in Britain. He is the director of the Schools of Biosciences at Cardiff in Wales. He called wining the Nobel Prize “a boyhood dream come true”.

Martin Evans1941年亦出生于英国。他是威尔士卡迪夫大学生命科学学院的院长。他称获得诺贝尔奖是“实现了童年的梦想。”
