The United Nations estimates up to six million people in Iraq are in dire need of help because of the years of violence and economic hardship. It says some four million people are unable to buy enough food regularly, have no access to save (safe) drinking water and have great difficulty getting the medical care they need.
由于连年战乱和经济困难,联合国预计超过六百万的伊拉克人民急需帮助。联合国指出,四百万人无法定期的买到足够的食物,无法获得安全的饮用水,并且很难获得他们所需要医疗。
The International Red Cross Federation is aiming to help nearly one million, or what they calls, the most socially vulnerable people inside Iraq over the next year.
国际红十字会组织打算在未来一年中帮助近一百万(伊拉克)人民,这些人他们称为是伊拉克内最弱势的社会群体。
Operation's coordinator for the Middle-East in (and) North Africa, *Linda Stops, tells VOA these are people who have general being (been) overlooked by social welfare aid programs. These are people who have no or very little income cannot make it on their own.
中东及北非营运协调员Linda Stops告诉VOA说,这些人通常会被社会福利援助项目所忽略。他们没有或仅有微薄收入,这不足以养活他们自己。
“They are in their homes. They are not displaced, but they are poor. They maybe young unemployed. Don't have jobs. They maybe elderly. They maybe handicapped. They fall into a lot of categories, but they don't sit (fit) into some of the other standard categories that we * what is right (see in Iraq), such as internally display(displaced). You know being taking to a movie (or moving) to different place, because of the violence and (or) insecurity is in (within) the country.”
“他们有家。他们没有流离失所,但是他们很穷。他们可能未被雇佣,没有工作。他们可能已经年迈。他们可能残疾人。他们属于很多(可描述)的类别,但是他们不属于我们在伊拉克所见的一些其他标准的生活水平, 如国内难民。你知道,这是由于国内的战乱和不安定局势,导致他们不断的搬家。”
