Vice chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Lessly (Leslie) Silverman, said the goal of an (her) agency was to eliminate discrimination in the workplace. She said the U.S has made substantial progress over the years.

公平就业委员会(EEOC)副主席Leslie Silverman谈到,该委员会的目标就是消除工作中的歧视。她说这些年来,美国已经做了很多改善。

“At the EEOC, we do believe that racial discrimination still occurs far too often in employment context. And, we also believe that stereotypes and unconscious fires (bias) contribute to this problem. That's why this past year, we decided to take a new approach to combating raised discrimination, which we called ERACE and it stands eradicating racism and colorism* from employments.”

Advocatory (Advocacy) director of the American Civil Liberties Union Joho *(Jamil Dakwar,) was in other *(not impressed). He said the delegation presented the existing laws, Supreme Court cases and other polices to justify their actions, but did not really address the questions in concerns of the Committee.

美国公民自由联盟负责人Jamil Dakwar对此问题观点不同。他说代表团提出了现有的法律、最高法院的案例以及其他政策以证实他们的行动,但这并没有回答委员会所关心的问题。

A coalition of 250 U.S-base human rights organizations has accused (accuses) the United States of persistent and systematic racial discrimination. The Committee based many of its questions on the 600-page report the coalition presented to it.

250位美国人权组织的人组成的联盟指控美国长期的和系统式的种族歧视。委员会提到的很多问题都基于这个联盟提交的长达600页的报告。

The Committee will present its final observations and conclusions in two weeks.

在两周内,委员会将发布最终的观察报告和结论。
