Tadpole Predicament
How does a little tadpole survive? By escaping hungry snakes, fish and nasty-looking insects.
Here in the south American rainforest, you’re watching what should be a joyous event ----- A laying of hundreds of eggs by a mother frog. In truth, only a very few of these eggs will ___1___ into a whole frog then. ___2___will take it off and predators will ___3___these babies at every step of their development. Here, captured on film is the miracle of life. When the tadpoles outgrow the___5___, they have to find another source of water fast. Of course, mum took care of everything. She laid her eggs above a___6___. Suddenly, there are no longer big tadpoles in a self-contain micro pond. Now, they are tiny tadpoles in a huge body of water, where their bodies and legs developed quickly. Predators ___7___everywhere, like this water bug for instance, it’s a simple, deadly transaction.
