The national museum of American history has not had significant renovation since it opened in 1964. Museum officials realized major infrastructure work would(读得太轻了) require the building to be closed for an extended period of time.

美国历史国家博物馆在1964年开放后就没有什么重大的翻修。博物馆官员意识到主要的基建可能会让博物馆闭馆很长的一段时间。
But samples of the museum's exclusive collection of  U.S. historical and cultural memorabilia will remain in the public view. The museum staff  has assembled  more than 150 pieces for a specially exhibited called Treasure of American History.

但是博物馆里独有的相关美国历史和文化大事件的收藏将继续出现在公众面前。博物馆工作人员已经为一个叫做“美国历史”的特别的展览筹措出了150余件展品。
Museum director  Brent  Glass says the exhibit is designed to represent a cross section of  facility's collection.
"And I'm very very pleased to have the opportunity to put these collections on this place(display), I think it's fair to say we've never attempted to bring together the most outstanding objects from all our different collections in one exhibit until this time."

Glass says the museum selected items designed to represent 4 core themes of American history－－ biography, identification, national challenges and creation and innovation. The museum closes after September 5th, staff will continue working on exhibit throughout renovation, which is expected to be completed in 2008.
