I have a whole life to tell; I have nothing left to lose and few to offend. I'm old enough to know too well my good and bad qualities, which were often one and the same.
a yielding (obedient/submissive) child
By the time I was forty, the rigidity of my footbiding had moved from my golden lilies to my heart, which held on to injustices and grievances so strongly that I could no longer forgive those I loved and who loved me.
But apart from ..., I was resolved to be an honourable wife, a praiseworthy daughter-in-law, and a scrupulous mother. In bad times my heart was as strong as jade.

It is difficult for us to solve it.

Nowadays, more and more eldrely peole in China are left alone without being looked after. So they often feel deserted and useless.

In my eyes, on the one hand, the draft is good for our society because taking care of parents is the traditional Chinese virtue. It's necessary to think much of it and keep it up. On the other hand, this draft could not solve the problem basically. Firstly, we should clearly understand why this problem take place. Secondly, we should find out its deep roots and solve them, such as work pressure, and migration. Finally, government should strengthen the education of morality and we should observe the standard of our virtue. Only in this way will our society form a great fashion to solve the problem.

But sometimes it serves a lot to writing. Through reading, we are supposed to get the writer's idea, draw the outline of the passage, or even to read between lines and see how the writer develops the plots. What's more, we can learn from the writer's diction -- how they express differently to be attractive or appealing.
To help ss to learn the importance and application of synonyms, ask them to paraphrase a passage, starting with a defining sentence.
