The United Nations' special representative to Afghanistan is proposing a new plan to improve the way foreign aid money has is spent amid concerns of billions of dollars have been wasted. The official Kai Eide wants most money to be directed through the Afghan government in return for battle better accountability and firm measures taken to reduce corruption. Alstair Leithead reports from Kabul.
80 nations pledged Afghanistan almost 21 billion dollars of aid in Paris last month. But now the donors and in the Afghan government will be told to deliver, to get schools, clinics, agriculture and electricity to the people who need it. Millions in development money has seriously notoriously gone to waste in the 7 years since the fall of Taliban. Today Qaeda Kai Eide will present its his plan to ensure aid spending is better coordinated and more effective.
