The committees those that oversees the united nations conventions on trade in endangered species CITES is allowing China to import a limited quantities of the ivory for the first time since the worldwide bannels in on its sale was imposed many nearly twenty years ago. CITES says China had tiking tightened measures against illegal ivory traders and could buy from four African countries where elephant population has stablizied. Some environmentalists say China should not be given permission as it still has a huge ivory black markets.

 

European union fishermen are to get help was worth up 3 billion dollars to cope with souring fuel prices. The EU fishery commissioner, Jebok Joe Borg, said he hoped the cash would provide short term releif and also build more efficient fishing flit fleet for the furture. The package comes after the a protest against the price of fuel by fishermen across Europe.
