发音要决：也许有的时候在描述这个前元音的时候我们会想当然认为它是[i]的缩短版本，其实这是错误的，或者至少说是简单化的理解。首先注意一点，美语中已经没有了长音符号，所以这两个音是相对独立的。当然，在口形上仍然存在相似之处。切忌将该音发成中文的“衣”。
发音时：唇部扁平，但没有发[i]的时候那么伸展，且口形稍大。舌前部稍向硬腭抬起，但趋势不能太强。

字母组合：
“ui” as in the word “quiz”: guitar, building, biscuit, quick, etc.
“e” as in the word “pretty”: kitchen, listen, etc.
“u” as in the word “busy”: business, etc.
“i” as in the word “sit”: bit, click, hinder, kiss, jingle, finger, fin, gift, sill, sick, etc.
“y” as in the word “gym”: rhythm, symbol, etc.
“ey” as in the word “money”: honey, monkey, donkey, etc.
[W]（/e/）
发音要决：这个音和我们上面讲的[I]很相近，极易混淆。其实区别很简单，发[I]的时候口形较小，而[W]则口形稍大。两者都属于前元音，舌前部都需要灵活运动。
发音时：口形扁平，上下齿之间约能伸进自己的食指尖。舌尖抵住下齿，舌前部有微微上抬的趋势，但是没有[I]那么明显。
