齿龈后部摩擦音[ʃ]，[ʒ]
发音要决：舌前部向上齿龈根部抬起，但不可贴住上腭，保持悬空。同时舌两侧贴住上齿两侧舌面下凹，形成一条狭长的通道。气流就从这条狭长的通道中通过，同时摩擦发音。[ʃ]是清辅音，送气但不振动声带；[ʒ]是浊辅音，不送气但需要振动声带。
特别提醒：发这两个音的时候，舌面只是有些下凹，而绝不能卷舌，否则就成了汉语中的sh“是”的声母发音（汉语这个声母我们称作卷舌音，因为舌头的确有些上卷）。发英语中的[ʃ]的时候，其实和汉语中的x“西”更相似，只不过发“西”的时候舌面平展，并没有任何下凹。我们可以就此结论，英语中的[ʃ]音似乎介于汉语的sh和x之间的一个音。
[ʒ]原来是来自于法语，所以许多法语词源的词会包含这个音，如“garage”（车库）。发音时千万不能直接用汉语的r“日”来代替，我们会感觉到，汉语的“日”实际上是一个卷舌音，而英语中的[ʒ]则根本不能卷舌。
