This is AP News Minute.
I. The State Department says two contract employees have been fired and the third has been disciplined for port (?) inappropriately looking at Barack Obama’s passport file. The Obama campaign is calling it an outrageous breach of security and privacy and is calling for investigation.
II. Authorities say severe weather has claimed the lives of at least 16 people in the Midwest. Much of Ohio remains under a flood warning and several communities in Missouri are bracing for record flood surges.
III. More follow-up from that New York City construction crane accident that left 7 people dead. City inspector Edward Marquette was arrested and has been charged with lying. Authorities say he failed to inspect the crane even through a complaint was filed about in early March.
IV. Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning is teaming up with President Bush, urging Americans to get fit. Manning has joined the president’s national challenge and says Americans need to get up and move for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
