Rose, a friend of mine, is an American social activist. Last week, she held this China-America Festival of Film and Culture in
Dashanzi
Art
Zone
and I was invited.
It is really amazing to meet Rose in person again and have the chance to know the three winners at the festival. Maybe we are quite different in cultural background, personal experiences and even age. But one thing we all have in common is that we are all dream-pursuers.
Dunkan is a big inspiration to me. He’s been an actor for quite a while and now working on movie projects as a director. You can never imagine how hard it is to start a new career in one’s forties. As for the film industry, it is undoubtedly even harder. The funding, the coordination and negotiation, the art part, the social connection and going to film festivals, ehhh, those are the things that can be way too frustrating.
Jennifer is an animator. She had The Daydream with her at the festival. What is worth your attention is that she finished the work all by hand. Guess how many pictures she has drawn? BTW, doesn’t she look Chinese?
Suzi started the business with her life-long friend 5 years ago. Her work Dear Lemon Lima really impressed me: A lonely girl with a vivid imagination struggles to plant seeds of love after her narcissistic sweetheart breaks her heart. It is a smart film. Now Suzi is living in an apartment in
Manhattan
. Hopefully, when I visit
New York city
, I will have a couple of places to stay.

Rose is delivering a speech for the openning of the fesival.

Rose and I are both movie lovers and 忘年交:)

Dunkan, Jennifer, Suzi and I are having a 'movie conference' in the hotel room.

We are at the starbucks and Jennifer looks bored.:)
