Finally, people don't eat meat for religious purposes. I cannot criticize a religion, however there is something to be said about the fact that a cultural tradition of hundreds of years ago does not necessarily fit into society today. For example, Hindus are mostly supposed to be vegetarians. This is true especially for the Brahman Caste or the priests. Brahmans can't eat meat because they are not supposed to be touched by things that are lesser than they are. In today's industrialized and capitalist world, the whole caste system has basically disintegrated. Although it has not been completely forgotten, it no longer plays such a large role. Because of this, many of the rules and regulations that went along with the caste system and Hinduism have disintegrated. People have altered according to their surroundings and have changed their ways, including many of the Hindu practices.
