Have you ever had the experience of looking back on your week with the sinking feeling that you didn't get as much done as you'd hoped? When building a successful career or a business of your own, your time is perhaps your most valuable asset, and your income is a direct result of how you spend your time. You cannot buy any more time than you're given, and the clock is always ticking.

A few years ago, I discovered a simple system that allowed me to nearly triple my productivity, and in this article I'll share some very practical ideas you can apply right away to increase your effectiveness without working any harder than you do now.

Keep a detailed time log.

The first step to better managing your time is to find out how you're currently spending your time. Keeping a time log is a very effective way to do this, and after trying it for just one day, you'll immediately gain tremendous insight into where your time is actually going. The very act of measuring is often enough to raise your unconscious habits into your consciousness, where you then have a chance to scrutinize and change them.

Here's how to keep a time log. Throughout your day record the time whenever you start or stop any activity. Consider using a stopwatch to just record time intervals for each activity. You can do this during only your working time or throughout your entire day. At the end of the day, sort all the time chunks into general categories, and find out what percentage of your time is being spent on each type of activity. If you want to be thorough, do this for a week, and calculate the percentage of your total time that you spent on each type of activity. Be as detailed as possible. Note how much time you spend on email, reading newsgroups, web surfing, phone calls, eating, going to the bathroom, etc. If you get up out of your chair, it probably means you need to make an entry in your time log. I typically end up with 50-100 log entries per day.

You may be surprised to discover you're spending only a small fraction of your working time doing what you'd consider to be actual work. Studies have shown that the average office worker does only 1.5 hours of actual work per day. The rest of the time is spent socializing , taking coffee breaks, eating, engaging in non-business communication, shuffling papers, and doing lots of other non-work tasks. The average full-time office worker doesn't even start doing real work until 11:00am and begins to wind down around 3:30pm.

Analyze your results.

The first time I kept a time log, I only finished 15 hours worth of real work in a week where I spent about 60 hours in my office. Even though I was technically about twice as productive as the average office worker, I was still disturbed by the results. Where did those other 45 hours go? My time log laid it all out for me, showing me all the time drains I wasn't consciously aware of -- checking email too often, excessive perfectionism doing tasks that didn't need to be done, over-reading the news, taking too much time for meals, succumbing to preventable interruptions, etc.

Calculate your personal efficiency ratio.

When I realized that I spent 60 hours at the office but only completed 15 hours of actual work within that time, I started asking myself some interesting questions. My income and my sense of accomplishment depended only on those 15 hours, not on the total amount of time I spent at the office. So I decided to begin recording my daily efficiency ratio as the amount of time I spent on actual work divided by the total amount of time I spent in my office. While it certainly bothered me that I was only working 25% of the time initially, I also realized it would be extremely foolish to simply work longer hours. Calculate your personal efficiency ratio.

Efficiency Ratio = (Time Doing "Real Work") / (Time Spent "At Work")

Cut back on total hours to force an increase in efficiency.

If you've ever tried to discipline yourself to do something you weren't really motivated to do, you most likely failed. That was naturally the result I experienced when I tried to discipline myself to work harder. In fact, trying harder actually de-motivated me and drove my efficiency ratio even lower. So I reluctantly decided to try the opposite approach. The next day I would only allow myself to put in five hours total at the office, and the rest of the day I wouldn't allow myself to work at all. Well, an interesting thing happened, as I'm sure you can imagine. My brain must have gotten the idea that working time was a scarce commodity because I worked almost the entire five hours straight and got an efficiency ratio of over 90%. I continued this experiment for the rest of the week and ended up getting about 25 hours of work done with only 30 hours total spent in my office, for an efficiency ratio of over 80%. So I was able to reduce my weekly working time by 30 hours while also getting 10 more hours of real work done. If your time log shows your efficiency ratio to be on the low side, try severely limiting your total amount of working time for a day, and see what happens. Once your brain realizes that working time is scarce, you suddenly become a lot more efficient because you have to be. When you have tight time constraints, you will usually find a way to get your work done. But when you have all the time in the world, it's too easy to be inefficient.

Gradually increase total hours while maintaining peak efficiency.

Over a period of a few weeks, I was able to keep my efficiency ratio above 80% while gradually increasing my total weekly office time. I've been able to maintain this for many years now, and I commonly get about 40 hours of real work done every week, while only spending about 45 total hours in my office. I've learned that this is ideal for me. If I try to put in more time at the office, then my productivity drops off rapidly. The interesting thing is that the system that allowed me to optimize my effectiveness at work also created a tremendous amount of balance in all other areas of my life. Even though I was able to use this approach to triple my business productivity, I still gained plenty of time to pursue personal interests.

Time logging is the intelligent choice to ensure optimal productivity without increasing your hours. But time logging need only be done periodically to provide these benefits. I do it for one week every 3-6 months, and over the years it has made a huge difference for me, always providing me with new distinctions. If I go too many months without time logging, my productivity gradually drops as I fall back into unconscious time-wasting habits. You'll probably find as I do that your gut feelings about your productivity are closely related to how much real work you actually get done. When you feel your productivity is lower than you'd like, raise your awareness via time logging, measure your efficiency ratio, and then optimize your efficiency to boost your productivity back up where it belongs. Time logging is a high leverage activity that takes very little time and effort to implement , but the long-term payoff is tremendous.

I’d li(ke a)nother bow(l o)f rice.

what wil(l he) [wili]do?

Ha(s he) done it before?

Mus(t he) [ti] go?

Can he do it?

Should he….?

Tell him to ask her….

Lea(ve him) [vim].

For him (连读这个词,会发现和forum 很相似)

1、 辅音[d]与[j]相邻时,被同化为[dэ]:Would you....?

2、 辅音[t]与[j]相邻时,被同化为[t∫]: Can’t you...?

Contact lens:

Big cake

Dad told me

Huge change

Good night

Expression: [p]

letter—ladder

out of

实词重读,如动词、名词、副词等;

比如说如下几个单词:for/to/some/does/of

1. 在/s/ /F/ /f/ /m/ /n/等辅音之前的字母a,美国英语一般读作/A/ 音,而英国音则发作/B:/。

Tonight, we hv a regular meeting.
our Lei made a speech

You’ve probably tried it several times. You’re fed up with your skinny look or overweight body. You decide to finally do something about it. So you take a gym membership. Some friends decide to join you. After a few weeks however, your friends don’t show up anymore. Then you end up alone. And eventually you quit.

Yeah I know, this happens all the time. I’ve seen it over and over again. I know what you’re thinking. How come some people can stick with it and others not? What is their secret?

I’ll first tell you what it is not: it’s not discipline, it’s not willpower. Discipline and willpower only work in the short-term.

What works in the long-term is making exercise a habit. That’s their secret.

1. Set your Goal.

What do you want to achieve?
* Bigger muscles?
* Less fat?
* More strength?
* More speed?

Exercising can be used for several means. Before you take a gym membership, start by setting a definite goal. What is it that you want? Don't try to achieve more than 1 thing at a time. Start with one goal. Once you have attained it, you can work towards a second goal.

* 更强壮的肌肉?
* 变瘦点?
* 更有力量?
* 更有爆发力?

2. Set a Deadline.

Set a date by which you will reach your goal. Write your goal and deadline on a piece of paper and put it somewhere you can see it multiple times a day. A good place would be on your nightstand. Look at it on waking up and before going to bed. This will act as a constant reminder of your goal.

3. Make a Plan.

Once you have set your goal, you must back it up with a plan.
* Which exercises will you perform?
* How many sets and reps will you do?
* How many times a week will you go the gym?

Your time is precious. Any minute in the gym must bring you closer towards the achievement of your goal.

4. Exercise First Thing in the Morning.

When you’ve just had a tough day at work, it can be hard to train for another hour at the gym. A solution is to exercise first thing in the morning:
* Wake up early
* Eat breakfast
* Prepare the stuff you need for work
* Go to the gym

One hour later, you’re another step closer towards the achievement of your goal. And you have your whole day to do whatever you need to do.

* 早起.
* 吃早饭.
* 把上班要用的东西准备好.
* 去健身.

5. Stick to your Plan.

This is something I experienced on numerous occasions. The days you don’t feel like exercising, are often your best days. Maybe it’s the mind-body connection: the body says no, but the mind says go. Thus the body eventually says go too. I don’t know.

Whatever it is, when it’s the day to train, it’s the day to train. Make no excuses, go the gym. If you don’t feel 100% healthy, still go the gym, but train at a lower intensity. The fact that you’ve been there, is more important than the quality of your training. And as I wrote above, sometimes it can turn out into one of your most productive workouts.

The more you exercise, the more you build the habit. Stick to your plan.

6. Train With Someone Who Has The Exercise Habit.

If you’re training partner quits, you’ll probably end up quitting too. But if your training partner hangs on, you’ll take it as a challenge.

Next time you go the gym, look around you. Look at the people who exercise. Find someone who is serious with his training. Take the initiative: ask him if you can train with him. If you choose the right person, he’ll accept your request. Most people know that getting into exercising is not easy, they know because they’ve been there.

7. Be confident.

You can achieve whatever you want, if you believe that you can do it. Having a clear goal and a plan will already arm you with self-confidence.

Know that it will take 30 days to build the exercise habit. During the first 30 days you’ll need to push yourself to the gym. After 30 days it will become easier: the habits starts to take over, pushing you the gym.

Write this next to your goal and deadline: “If they can do it, I can do it”.

5/21                  Mon                           Sunny + rainny

Love and Time   爱和时间(轉載)

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,

"Richness, can you take me with you?"

Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,

Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"

"It was Time," Knowledge answered.

"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

Three passions
by Bertrand Russell

Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life:thelonging for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pityforthe suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, haveblown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a deepoceanof anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.

I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy –ecstasysogreat that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of life forafew hours of this joy. I have sought it, next, because itrelievesloneliness--that terrible loneliness in which oneshiveringconsciousness looks over the rim of the world into thecoldunfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, becauseinthe union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, theprefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poetshaveimagined. This is what I sought, and though it might seem toogoodfor human life, this is what- at last- I have found.

With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wishedtounderstand the hearts of men. I have tried to apprehendthePythagorean power by which number holds sway above the flu.Alittle of this, but not much, I have achieved.

Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, ledupwardtoward the heavens. But always pity brought me back toearth.Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Childreninfamine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people ahatedburden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. Ilong toalleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.

This has been my life. I have found it worth living, andwouldgladly live it again if the chance were offered me.

Once a circle missed a wedge. the circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its missing piece. but because it was incomplete and therefore could roll only very slowly, it admired the flowers along the way. it chatted with worms. it enjoyed the sunshine. it found lots of different pieces, but none of them fit. so it left them all by the side of the road and kept on searching.

Then one day the circle found a piece that fit perfectly. it was so happy. now it could be whole, with nothing missing. it incorporated the missing piece into itself and began to roll. now that it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to notice the flowers of talking to the worms.

When it realized how different the world seemed when it rolled so quickly, it stopped, left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled slowly away.

The lesson of the story, i suggested, was that in some strange sense we are more whole when we are missing something. the man who has everything is in some ways a poor man.

He will never know what it feels like to yearn, to hope, to nourish his soul with the dream of something better. he will never know the experience of having someone who loves him give him something he has always wanted or never had.

There is a wholeness about the person who has come to terms with his limitations, who has been brave enough to let go of his unrealistic dreams and not feel like a failure for doing so.

There is a wholeness about the man or woman who has learned that he or she is strong enough to go through a tragedy and survive, she can lose someone and still feel like a complete person.

Life is not a trap set for us by god so that he can condemn us for failing. life is not a spelling bee, where no matter how many words you’ve gotten right, you’re disqualified if you make one mistake. life is more like a baseball season, where even the best team loses one-third of its games and even the worst team has its days of brilliance. our goal is to win more games than we lose.

When we accept that imperfection is part of being human, and when we can continue rolling through life and appreciate it, we will have achieved a wholeness that others can only aspire to. that, i believe, is what god asks of us---not “be perfect”, not “don’t even make a mistake”, but “be whole.”

1、Love is more than a word it says so much. When I see these four letters, I almost feel your touch. This is only happened since I fell in love with you. Why this word does this, I haven't got a clue.
2、Thank you for comfotting me when I'm sad Loving me when I'm mad Picking me up when I'm down Thank you for being my friend and being around Teaching me the meaning of love Encouraging me when I need a shove But most of all thank you for Loving me for who I am.
3、Sweetheart, My thoughts are deep into you From the moment that I wake up And to the whole day through Happy Valentine's Day
4、Thank you for standing behind me In all that I do I hope you're as happy with me As I am with you
5、If I could save time in a bottle the first thing that i 'd like to do is to save every day until eternity passes away just to spend them with you if I could make days last forever if words could make wishes come true I'd save every day like a treasure and then again I would spend them with you
6、To sweetheart or friend, words can mean much. Valentine heart to heart, conveys a loving touch.
7、You're always there for me When things tend to go wrong It's that faith you have in me That makes our love strong
8、It's your loving and your caring And knowing that you're near That gentle touch you have Make my troubles disappear
9、A better love I couldn't ask for With your sweet and gently way And knowing that your love for me Grows more everyday
10、We share so much together And you always pull me through Thank you for standing behind me In all that I do

Recently, i come here many times each day but without any diary. maybe my mind is somehow in mess.

Nov.14: my favorite CF is back to work frm maternity leave. Have a meeting with our team all. And after that, i feel more spiritual from her.  Sum up:

  • EQ: I think most of all have a high IQ, and receive a good education already. But we should have make some more efforts on EQ development. No one can defeat u except myself.  Don't affect by the negative emotion. When facing the difficulties, let positive emotion(factor) in ur front to confront the difficulties, insteat of the negative one.  ----my action: be more positive and confident.
  • Services: to provide five-star services to all customers, no matter who it is. My hope: the order frm a cust. is larger and larger because of my great effort. the order frm a cust is dissapear or decreased, which is not for my service.  When I am in a position, i should do my best to make it perfect with my heart. ----my action: will follow it in bula and dickies.
  • Playing with time: should have an outline planning before action. When u have a new programme, u should use a little time to draw a action and calendar. Then u will not be lost in it.      ----my action: make action and calendar when receiving a program.
  • To care for news:  both around and the global.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nov. 15:  Have a two-hr meeting.

it is so depressive and tedious. But it really reflected sth important. Really I am so regretful for sth happened then. I didn't burden the responsibility with Anny.

We shall fight on the hills. We shall fight in the streets. We shall fight blood and sweat and tears。 例如对人十分佩服,你说I admire him profoundly。 I take off my hat to him.

Have got(Have you got any money?) Forget about it(算了)! You are telling me (我还得等你说)? Not a chance (绝不会)也是一种口语。
