This is the 20th annual Martin Lurther King holiday in the United States. And it's the first since the passing of Rosa Parks, often called the mother of the civil rights movement.

Health and climate scientists have [met-mapped] how climate change affects different parts of the world in different ways. The scientists point to evidence that changes in the past thirty years may already be affecting human health. Possible effects include more deaths from extreme heat or cold, from storms and from [glide-dry] periods that lead to crop failures.

The work by scientists from the university of Wisconscin Madison and the World Health Organization appeared in the [journal] nature. The WHO is a United Nation's agency. And the WHO says the numbers could rise sharply by 2030.

Organic food products generate 14.5 billion dollars in annual sales in the United States. That represents two percent of total food and beverage sales.

David Gagnon is with the Organic Trade Association.

Harjit Kelley is a retired commander with the Kenyan [navy] who is a consultant for the United Nations monitering group [in-on] Somalia.
