I. The death toll has now risen to nearly 12,000 following Monday’s earthquake in China. The 7.9 magnitude quake toppled 使倒塌 buildings in the central part of the country. Officials fear the death toll will go higher. Rain is hampering妨碍 relief efforts.
II. A second shipment装载的货物 of aid from the US has reached Myanmar. However the UN says only a tiny portion of the international aid flowing into the country is getting to cyclone survivors. The UN says Myanmar’s military junta私党 is keeping the best aid for itself.
III. Dozens of homes have been damaged by brush fires灌木丛之火灾 in Florida and hundreds of people have been evacuated. The fire has shut down several miles of busy interstate州际公路. The governor has declared a state of emergency allowing Florida to use federal funds and bring local emergency workers under state control.
IV. It’s primary day in West Virginia as democrats head to the voting booth投票间 to cast their ballots. Hillary Clinton is expected to easily defeat Barack Obama. Clinton will be in West Virginia today while Obama will be campaigning in Missouri, an expected battleground state in Nov.

It could be more of bad news for already ravaged大破坏 sections of Myanmar. The UN says another cyclone may be forming near the South-East Asia nation. The world meteorological气象的 center says the potential for development of the significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is good. Right now, more than 2 million people in Myanmar are living in conditions that are described as miserable.
The official death toll in China following Monday’s earthquake is 15,000 but certain to go higher. Rescue workers estimate 80% of the residents in some towns near the epicenter are dead. Helicopters are now air-lifting food, water, and medical supplies to survivors.
President Bush is in Isreal(突然发现以色列是 is real - -很好记) celebrating that country’s 60th anniversary. During his stay, the president will make a new push for peace in the Middle East. Later Bush will travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Hilary Clinton says the race for the Democratic presidential nomination isn’t over yet. She easily defeated Barack Obama in West Virginia’s primary初选, getting 67% of the vote. And she trails in the overall race with only 5 primaries to go. Kentucky and Oregon are up next week.

John Edwards got a funder reservation and then endorsed支持 Barack Obama for president. The person closed to the North Carolina Senator said he did it to unify Democrats in the effor to beat John McCain November.
China’s official news agency says fewer than 100 people have been saved in Sichuan Province where 7.9 magnitude quake hit earlier this week. The death toll is nearly 15,000. It’s expected to go up.
An arrest made in Florida has cruised.They are continued to battle wildfires that destroyed about 20 homes on the states of Atlantic coast. 31-year-old Bryan Crowder is accused throwing out a Molotov cocktail out of his car into the woods and setting a small fire that was quickly extinguished.
A 40-year-old Swiss pilot has taken human flight into a new level. By strapping on a set of jet power wings and flying among the (?). Yves Rossy spent about 5 minutes conducting the aerial 飞机的(别再听成是area了哦) demonstration and he hopes to fly across the English Channel later this year.

I. President Bush says he’s looking forward to the day when there will be peace throughout the Middle East. The president met with some young people in Jerusalem[dʒe'ru:sələm]n. 耶路撒冷as he wrapped up his trip to Israel. Bush said young people have to get their minds together and say let’s make this work.
II. There is a new audio supposedly from Osama bin Laden. In it the ai-Qaeda基地组织(听清怎么读哦) leader says the terror group will continue its holy war against Israel and its allies until Palestine巴勒斯坦 is liberated. The authenticity可信赖性 of the statement could not be verified查证 but was posed on a website commonly used by ai- Qaeda.
III. Amazing stories out of China this morning. Several people including a child buried for 96 hours had been pulled out of collapsed buildings alive. The death toll has now risen to more than 21,000. But Chinese officials have said the number of death could rise above 50,000.
IV. Same sex couples in California could be getting legally married as soon as next month. The state Supreme Court yesterday struck down取消一项法律规定 state laws against same sex marriage, but voters may ultimately decide. Opponents hope to get constitutional amendment on the ballot in November.
