句型提炼：
The idea of ... had come to ... (off and on) since ..., but it wasn't until ... that the possibility took hold.
从...时候起，...的脑子里就(断断续续)有了...的念头，但直到...时候，这一想法才有了实现的可能 。

注意这个句型中的强调句型：
it wasn't until... that ...是强调“直到...才...”，
it wasn't until my third year in high school that the possibility took hold. 的正常语序是： the possibility did not take place until my third year in high school.
在用it was...that...的强调句型强调not... until...句型中的until引导的时间状语时，not 要提前。


造句：

从开始在公司里工作时起，玛丽的脑子里就有了出国进修的念头，但直到她升为主管后，这一想法才有了实现的可能 。
The idea of going abroad for further studyhad come to Mary since she began her career in a company, but it wasn't until she was promoted to be a manager that the possibility took hold.
