World News from the BBC. Protesters in at least 4 cities in China have demonstrated at theiroutside branches of the French supermarket chain Carrefour. They were angry at the disruption to the Paris leg of the Olympic Torch Relay by anti-China protestors, and at what many say see as French support for Tibetan independence. Our East Asia editor Steve Jackson reports. Carrefour is the most visible French presencets in China, and has been the focus of thea campaign of anger since the chaotic torch procession in Paris. In the eastern Chinese city of Hefei, a branch of the supermarket was blockaded by around 40 trucks. In Wuhan, in central China, several hundred protestors marched through the streets, calling for a boycott of Carrefour. Many Chinese people resents were incensed by the actions of a free Tibet protester in Paris, who tried to snatch the Olympic Torch from a female Chinese wheelchair athlete. France says it regrets the incident, Carrefour says it doesn’t knowhas no political role. In Britain, hundreds of Chinese students protested in London and Manchester about what they say is the bias coverage of Tibet by the BBC.
