Farmers’ groups in Argentina have resumed their protest to the suspending for 6 days the export of meat and grain,towards 2 of the country’s main foreign currency ownersearners. It’s the latest escalation of increasingly bitter dispute avenue over new export taxes, which hasve already caused protest rise riots and in food shortages. D T reports.

 

This is the 3rd time that Argentine farmers have gone on strike since March. This time they will stop sales of grain and meat until Monday. Farmers’ leaders say they hope the government will talk to them. But as the dispute drags on, the division between the 2 sides is only widening. Argentinae was increasingly split between city and country. And the popularity of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner’s government is plummeting. Argentina is one of the world’s largest producers of grain, beef and soy. And this dispute has already had an impact on the price of soy on world markets.
