Classes resume today at Northern Illinois University for the first time since a shooting rampage left 6 people dead including the attacker. Thousands gathered Sunday night for a campus memorial for the victims. 17 others were wounded in the attack.
Trial starts today for three New York City police officers indicted in the shooting death of Sean Bell. Bell died in the hail of 50 bullets in November of 2006 just hours before he was to marry the mother of his two children. He was shot after being confronted by undercover officers investigating reports of drugs and prostitution.
The New York Philharmonic is in North Korea on a historic cultural visit to the communist nation. The orchestra will perform a concert tomorrow that will be broadcasted live on North Korean state radio and TV.
'No County for Old Man' won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It also won for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Other winners, Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor and a surprise, Marion Cotillard for Best Actress.
