7.with – for 此处介词并不与前面的动词搭配成短语动词，“想想用于帮助饥饿平穷的人们，同样的数目能发挥多大的作用。”谓语动词do 的宾语what提前，引导宾语，后面的介词指示动作对象，表“为了”，故用for.
8.that – why 本从句并非说明reason 的具体内容，而是说明是哪一方面的原因，相当于限定作用的定语，所以应用why 引导定语从句。
9.In – Among “among other things”表 “除……之外”或“其中”
10. the – a 本句大意是：这在很多城市都是大问题。The number of “……的数目”，谓语动词用单数；而a number of “大量的”，谓语动词用复数。

记法： justfiy—just公正的---证明…有道理(公正地证明) 为…辩护

rectify 后一般加mistakes 改正错误
verify—very—非常(非常仔细的地) 核实 查证 证实 确认
有时还会遇见certify也有确认之意，源于certain. 同testify, 但不用于法庭上的证明。
