The food regulatory body in the United States has concluded that milk and meat from some cloned animals are as safe as that from conventionally reared ones. The finding by the Food and Drug Administration could lead to America becoming the first country to authorize cloned meat for sale.

The Food and Drug Administration, the FDA, which described its five-year study into the use of cloned products as exhaustive is a highly reputable and influential body, and it’s likely that its preliminary pronouncement will have an influence on subsequent decisions in Europe and beyond. In the U.S., reaction has been mixed. The Centre for Food Safety said that the FDA had swept many of its concerns such as the ethical implications of using cloned meat and milk under the rug.[replyview]
