The United States Treasury says it has completed its investigation into a bank in the Chinese territory of Macau which holds some $ 25 million worth of assets owned by the North Korean government. North Korea has made debt release a major precondition for a wide international deal over the future of its controversial nuclear program. The BBC business correspondent says the ending of the American investigation means the North Koreans will probably now get at least some of their money back.
The judiciary in Egypt has for the first time appointed a number of women as judges to hear criminal and civil cases in court. The head of the Supreme Judiciary Council said 31 female lawyers had been given positions as judges and senior judges. Correspondents say although Egypt was the first country in the Arab world to grant women political rights, it's lag behind other Arab states in giving women a role in the judiciary.
