1) 6 medics held in Libya on charges of infecting hundreds of children with the AIDS virus have been released. Stefan Bos reports from Budapest, they have received warm welcome in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
" The five Bulgarian nurses and one Palestinian doctor boarded a French presidential plane bound for Bulgaria. They were accompanied by European Union’s External Relation commissioner, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and French first lady Cécilia Sarkozy. The two were in Tripoli to help gain the release of the medics who were sentenced to death for infecting 438 children in a Libya hospital with the HIV virus. Bulgarian European Union commissioner Meglena Kuneva says the case was not a reason for her country to join the EU this year.
" "This is not only about collision events, this is not only about agriculture, but this is overwhelming feeling of solidarity when you are really in desperate situation. Like we’ve been for all these years trying to release our medics. ” Libya lifted the death sentences against the medics last week commuting the terms to life imprisonment after the families of the more 400 infected children received about 1 million dollars each in compensation. Stefan Bos for VOA news, Budapest.

United States has said the talks would focus solely on the security situation in Iraq, despite tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and Iranian Americans’ detain by Tehran.
