1)Asian stock markets are dramatically higher today rebounding from last week's losses. Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average closed 3% higher while Taiwan Weighted Index jumped 5%. South Korea's Kospi Index, the Shanghai Composite index and Hongkong Hang Seng all rose more than 3% early in the trading session. U.S and European stocks rebounded Fri immediately after the Federal Reserve cut the (federal此处口误) interest rate it charges on short-term loans to large commercial banks. Today was the first trading opportunity since then for Asian investors since stockholdings had suffered big losses through most of last week. The U.S central bank's interest rate cut was intended to buffer the impact on world finiancial markets of housing loan crisis in U.S.
2) The eight Democrats seeking their party's US presidential nomination sparred Sun in a national televised debate, VOA's Paula Wolfson reports foreign policy issues topped the event, which was held in the key state of Iowa.
The debate quickly focused onsenator Barack Obama and whether or not he has the experience to conduct US foreign policy. Obama has said that if he is elected president, he will be willing to meet with America's every ? (估计是与“enemies"同义,没听出来)- adversaries(查别人的得知). He has also indicated he will be willing to send military forces into Pakistan if there was strong intelligence pinpointing the whereabouts of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden(有情报查明本拉登的下落). Connecticut senator Christopher Dodd who has served in Congress for more than 3 decades said those comments prove Obama is not ready to be president. Senator Hillary Clinton of New York was more restrained in her remarks about Obama. But she stressed that everyone involved in the campaign must realize how closely their words are followed overseas. She cited the anger response to Obama's comments on Pakistan as an example. Paula Wolfson VOA news, Washington.
3) A passenger jet flown by Taiwan's China Airline bursted into flames today just after landing on the Southern Japanese Island Okinawa. Airport officials say all 157 passengers and 8 crew members have escaped  the plane on a inflatable emergency slides(紧急充气滑梯). Officials say at least one person was injured. Fire fighters put out the flames within an hour by spraying foam on the plane. Officials say the fire broke out in the engine below the Boeing 737's left wing. It's not clear what started the fire. Authorities have ruled out terrorism.

1)Connecticut
2)Iowa
3)Illinois
4)Senator Hillary Clinton
5)Southern Japanese Island Okinawa
Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average
Taiwan Weighted Index
Shanghai Composite Index
Hongkong Hang Seng Index
