Mr. Gates said the U.S government was prepared to share appropriate details about the strike, which Washington said took place to prevent the satellite falling to Earth and releasing toxic gas into the atmosphere. China has said it is on alert for possible harmful fallout and called for information so that potentially-affected countries can take precautions.
