6. [德新社记者] I'm with the DPA, German Press Agency. Prime minister, in the reaction on Tibet, some people in the west have also raised the specter of boycott of the Olympic. So I wonder if you can comment on that? And I want to use the opportunity that Vice Premier Li Keqiang is here with us today. And I was wondering......We all know that you play an important role and maybe in the future you will play an even more important role. Could you summarize for us very quickly what is your political vision or conviction? Thank you.
我是德新社记者。刚才听了您对西藏问题的回应，我还想问一句，在西方世界上也有一些人对抵制奥运会提出了质疑。您对此有何评论？另外，副总理李克强也出现在会场，我们都知道您在中国政治生活当中发挥很重要的作用，今后可能发挥更为重要的作用。您是否可以简要地谈一谈您的政治理念和信念？

[姜恩柱]今天是温总理回答记者们的提问，我一开始就说了。李克强副总理与其他各位副总理今后还会有机会跟记者们见面。现在请温总理继续回答问题。　
[Jiang Enzhu] I think I've made it very clear at the very beginning of this press conference that this time, Premier Wen Jiabao will take your questions. As for vice premiers, including Vice Premier Li Keqiang, I think you will have opportunities in the future. Now I would like to give back the microphone to Premier Wen.

[温家宝]在中国举办奥运会，是全世界人民的盛事。我们要秉承奥运会的宗旨，就是不能把奥运会政治化。其实记者先生已经看出了西藏最近出现这一事件的本质。他们就是想煽动破坏奥运会的事件，来企图达到他们不可告人的目的。　

我想在这里重申一下，中国是一个具有五千年历史的国家。举办奥运会是多少代人的梦想。我们希望通过奥运会在中国举办，加强同各国人民之间的友谊和合作。我们希望把奥运会办得更好一些，让运动员满意，让世界人民满意。但是我们还是一个不发达的国家，我们难免在筹备奥运会的工作中存在这样和那样的问题。但是，中国人想把奥运会办好这颗心是真诚的。

我相信13亿人民微笑着面对世界，全世界人民也会微笑着对待中国。

I think the Beijing Olympic Games will be a grand gathering for people all over the world, and we need to respect the principles of the Olympics and the Olympic Charter, that is we should not politicize the Olympic Games. I think just now the journalist who raised this question; you have already recognized the essence of the incident caused by a few people in Tibet, recently. By stating that incident, they want to undermine（损害，暗中破坏） the Beijing Olympic Games. And they also try to serve their hidden agenda by inciting such incident.

I would like to re-iterate that China is a country with a history of over 5,000 years. To host a(n) Olympic games in China is a dream shared by people of many generations in this country. I also hope that by hosting the Olympic Games in China, we would be able to further our friendship and cooperation with peoples from all over the world. All of the Chinese people wish to see a successful Olympic Games here and we would like to ensure that the athletes and people of all countries in this world would be satisfied with the games in Beijing. This been said, I'd also like to point out that China is not a developed country. In the process of the preparations for the games, it is inevitable that we may encounter problems of this or that sort. But what I can ensure you that the Chinese people are most sincere in their wish and intention to host a successful Olympic Games.

And I have confidence that the smiles of 1.3 billion Chinese people in front of the world will be reciprocated （互换，报答）by the smiles of people of, from all over the world.

7. [台湾工商时报记者]这两年来两岸关系虽然起伏很大，但是您也知道，在两岸经贸关系的互动上越来越频繁，大陆经济发展和一些宏观调控政策对台湾的资本市场也有一定程度的影响。再过几天，台湾内部要有一个变化，其实台湾老百姓对于这个变化的看法是，不管是什么人当选，他们都希望台湾的未来能够更好，台湾的经济发展更好，至少在区域经济竞争中不要再落后。在这样的基础上，请问总理，3月22日之后，大陆方面有没有可能和台湾在经贸合作方面有进一步的往来？大陆是否会对台湾实施更多的经贸优惠政策？比如两岸能不能协谈类似CEPA这样的协定，或者大陆开通直通车来提振(非标准国语)台湾的资本市场？　
[Taiwan Commercial Times] Thank you. I'm with Taiwan Commercial Times. In the past two years, we have seen major ups and downs in the growth of cross-Strait relations. This has been said we've also seen more frequent and close interaction between the two sides in the economic and trade fields. We can see that the macro economic measures taken by the Mainland and the economic growth on(in) the Mainland have had an impact on the capital market of Taiwan. In a few days’ time, we are going to see a major change in Taiwan. I think, in the views of people in Taiwan, no matter who will be elected, they all share the hope that Taiwan will be better and better tomorrow, and Taiwan's economy will be better and better. At least, none of the people in Taiwan would like to see Taiwan continue to lag behind in the regional competition. I would like to ask that after the twenty-second of March, will it be possible for the Mainland to take its own initiative to adopt more preferential policies towards Taiwan to encourage further economic and trade development between the two sides. For example, is it possible for the Mainland to adopt the policy that will encourage CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership更紧密经贸关系) with Taiwan? Will it be possible for the Mainland to consider policies that will enable direct investment from the Mainland in the capital and housing market in Taiwan to boost the development of Taiwan's capital market?

[温家宝]请记者女士转达我对台湾同胞的问候。正如你所说的，两岸经贸关系这些年有很大的发展，这有利于两岸人民的根本利益。关于进一步发展两岸经贸关系，我在政府工作报告中已经讲的很清楚了，就是继续推进两岸经贸交流，特别是尽快实现直接“三通”。　
Madame Journalist, I think you ask the question about the Taiwan, and I would like to kindly ask you to pass on my warm greetings to our compatriots in Taiwan. As you said, that the economic ties and trade between the two sides have registered substantial development over the past a few years, which is in the fundamental interest of the people on both sides. And I think as for the further growth of the business ties and trade between the two sides, I have made my points quite clear in my report on the work of the government, that is, we want to continue to increase exchanges in the economic and trade field between the two sides. And particularly we want to resume the Three-direct-links between the two sides as quickly as possible.

加强两岸经贸关系，可以用八个字来概括，就是加强合作、互利共赢，这是一条根本原则。
I think our policy to develop economic and the trade ties with Taiwan can be summed up as follows：that is, to step up cooperation, and to seek win-win and mutually beneficial cooperation. This is a fundamental principle.

我们在认真地履行自己的诺言，凡是对台湾同胞有利的事，我们一定要努力去做，而且要把它做好。从2005年到现在，我们对台湾同胞实施了大约近60项的优惠政策。　
We are conscientiously honoring what we have said, that we will do everything in our power that is in the interest of our people in Taiwan. And we will try to do it well. Between 2005 and now, we have adopted nearly 60 preferential policies that are beneficial to our people in Taiwan.

为了台湾同胞的利益，我们甚至愿意作出必要的牺牲，比如说大陆与台湾的贸易，台湾保持着多年的巨额顺差。2007年双边贸易额超过1200亿美元，台湾的顺差超过700亿美元。　
To serve the interest of people in Taiwan, we are even ready to make necessary sacrifices. For example, when we talk about trade between the two sides, over many years Taiwan has been running a huge amount of trade surplus in its trade with mainland. Take the year 2007 for example, the two-way trade volume stood at 120 billion USD, in which Taiwan ran a surplus of 70 billion USD.

台湾至今还限制我们的产品进入岛内多达2000多种，即使这样，我们对台湾还是放开市场，包括农产品市场。在台湾同胞最困难的时候，我们主动来帮助同胞销售水果等农副产品。　
In addition, more than 20,000 products from the mainland are still denied access to Taiwan's market. Even when this is the case, we still give market access to products from Taiwan, including Taiwan-made agricultural products. When people in Taiwan are in their most difficult time, we took the initiative to reach out and help people in Taiwan to sell their fruits and other agricultural products.

至今台湾还限制大陆的企业到台湾投资。但是台湾进入大陆的企业已经多达7万多家，投资金额480亿美元，如果加上通过第三者进入中国大陆的超过700多亿美元。　
Till this day, Taiwan still imposes restrictions on investment in Taiwan from the mainland. On the other hand, the Taiwan businesses have entered the market on the mainland. And the total number of Taiwan-invested companies is about 70,000 with a total investment of 48 billion USD. If we also counting the investment made by a third-party, and the total investment will go up to 70 billion.

[温家宝]我是一个爱国主义者，我脑子里总是在想，“一心中国梦、万古下泉诗”，
I’m a patriot, and I’m always thinking about this line, that we have all longed to see a reunified China and this is reflected in the old poem xiaquan shared by all our people in this country.

“度尽劫波兄弟在，相逢一见泯恩仇”。
我们将继续扩大同台湾经贸交流的范围，包括投资、贸易、旅游、金融，提高合作的层次。在这些问题上，我们都可以本着平等互利的原则来进行协商。这样做实际上是发挥了两岸互补的优势和互利的优势。
As the lines of a poem go, that we remain brothers after all the vicissitudes (沧桑), let's forgo（摈弃） our old grudges（不满，积怨） when smiling we meet again.
And we are willing to expand the range and scope of our business ties and trade with Taiwan, including in the fields of investment, trade, tourism and banking sector. We are also willing to upgrade our cooperation. On all those issues I think we can enter into consultations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. By so doing, we are actually tapping the full potentials（发挥潜能） of our complementarity (互补性) on each side. Thank you.
