2008-07-16 'Summer Work, Travel' Brings Many Students to US(1/2)

This week, we answer a questions question from a student in O Odessa, M Ukraine. Marushka wants to know about a program that lets foreigh foreign students work in the United States during their summer vacations. The program is called "Summer Work, Travel"Work/Travel. The State Department administ administers it for four-time full-time college or university students who speak English well.

Students come on a J one J-one exchange ?visa. They can work for up to four months during their school break. They generally work in sevese job service jobs in s stores, Hotelsresorts, Restaurants hotels, restaurants and amusement partsparks. But summer in turn ships internships are also permitted.
学生可办理一张J-one临时护照.可在学校假期工作四个月.一般会在商场、旅游场所、旅馆、饭店以及娱乐场所从事服务性工作。同时允许暑假实习。
交流学生需要一本J-one签证。他们可以在学校放假期间工作不超过4个月。他们通常在商店，度假中心，宾馆，饭店和游乐园这样的服务场所工作。而假期实习也是允许的
 
Summer "Summer" in this case means summer in the students' student's country. Those from South south of the equater equator come to the United States during the northern winter. Students can not winter.Students cannot work as housekeepers in private homes or be involved impatient in patient care. And they are surposed supposed to be pay paid the same as Americans.
“暑假”在这里意味着学生本国的暑假。那些来自赤道以南的学生来到美国会经历北方的冬天。学生们不能在民宅从事家政或进行护理工作。他们所得薪金和美国人相同。
这里的暑假指的是学生在自己国家的暑假。那些来自南半球的学生通常会在北半球冬季时来到美国。学生不能从事类似于私人管家或是涉及照看病人的工作。而他们的工钱也应合美国当地的学生一样。

Congress created this popular program under a nineteen sixty-one law. The Mu , the Mutual Educational and Causual Cultural Exchange Act. Last year, one hundred fifty thousand students came to the United States this way. Students can do the "Summer Work, Travel" Work/Travel program more than once.
国会在1961年法案的基础上建立了此项政策，教育与文化交流法。去年有15万学生通过这种方式来到美国。而且他们可借助此项政策来美国不止一次。
